Grade 12 student Holly Tipper created and organized a writer's showcase for her CLC 12 Capstone project. It was a great success and provided an opportunity for student writers to showcase their work and talk about the writing process. This is bound to be a new tradition at Parkland!
Parkland combined two powerful campaigns into one great day of awareness. The Moosehide Campaign is a grassroots movement of Indigenous and non-Indigenous men and boys who are standing up against violence towards women and children. The BC Lions Be More than a Bystander Campaign is designed to break the silence around gender-based violence by providing tools, language, and practical ideas about how to be more than a bystander. Thank you to our amazing male student role models who introduced the presentation to classes.
Thank you to Brian Koval from the Peninsula Streams Society for leading our Marine 10 class through a forage fish egg survey on the beach at Lillian Hoffar Park.
The Saanich School District remains committed to wellness and the promotion of positive health in our schools and communities. In an effort to support mental wellness and social-emotional learning, we will be issuing monthly snapshots, intended as an invitation to learn together as we foster and promote positive health in our own lives, and the lives of those around us. Please follow the link to access our February Snapshot on Kindness and Compassion.
A big thank you to our Parkland and Sidney/North Saanich Community for supporting our Parkland Track fundraising campaign. We are on our way to reaching our fundraising goal! Check out the Track website www.parklandtrack2021.com. We also have a Go Fund Me page https://gofund.me/53a44260. Please spread the word--it will take a village to raise the money needed but we can do it!
