SPORTS, TEAMS, TEAM MEETINGS:
Congratulations to Chloe Hegland - 4th at Provincials in Senior Girls Cross Country Race! Chloe ran an amazing race, with a time of 16:20 on the 4.3K course. In 232 qualifiers from around the province, Chloe was the first senior girl & is congratulated for all her hard work & dedication to running over the past four years, so well representing our school in this sport.

Big congratulations to Emma Goodwin in the regional swim meet in Nanaimo. She swam 50 m freestyle, 50 m backstroke, 100 m Freestyle & 100 m IM.  & qualified for Provincials - Nov 15/16 in Richmond, for 3 out of 4 events. 

Final regatta of the ROWING SEASON – CITY CHAMPIONSHIPS -was held this past weekend at Elk Lake. Great results for Parkland's crews:
1.    1st place finish for the JR men's quad made up of Matt, Josh, Mikkel & Cooper.
2.    2nd place finish for Erin, Kyra, Ocean & Vanessa in the SR women's quad;
    2nd place finish for Matt and Mikkel in the JR men's double.
3.    3 crews took 3rd place in their races:
      - the Advanced men's quad of Colin, Daniel, Sebastian, and David,
      - he advanced women's 8,
     - and the junior men's 8 .
A huge thank you to all the crews who rowed so well & made Parkland proud!

JUNIOR BOYS BASKETBALL : OFFICIAL TRYOUTS! Jr Boys BBall tryouts: Tuesday, Nov 5 (from 4:45pm – 6:00pm), and Thursday, Nov 7 (from 6:45am-8:00am). See Mr. BUCKHAM if you can not make it!

SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS & COMPETITIONS:
ARTISTS, WORDSMITHS, OR FILMMAKERS LEGION REMEMBRANCE DAY CONTEST now open. DEADLINE:NOV 15, 2013.Competition rules: www.legionbcyukon.ca.  

Horatio Alger Jim Pattison B.C. Scholarship: $5000 for those starting at post secondary institutions no later than fall 2014. Applicant must have demonstrated integrity, perseverance overcoming adversity, with critical financial need, & minimum grade percentage of 65%. Deadline: Dec 1st, 2013. Twenty $70 000 TD Scholarships for Community Leadership available to students with exceptional initiative in making a meaningful & lasting difference in their community. Deadline is December 6, 2013. See Mr. Choo for details.

GRAD 2014 BOTTLE DRIVE: Saturday Nov 16, 2013 - 10 a.m. To 2 p.m. - student parking lot. Deposit bottles at Parkland, or place in driveways for pick-up in: Sidney, Deep Cove, & Dean Park. Volunteers: please contact Madison through school office.
