All Junior Boys Basketball Players:  second league game TONIGHT Thursday Jan 9 @ 5:45 p.m. at home, and there tournament Friday & Saturday - lots of basketball, please be ready to go! Good Luck to the Junior Boys Basketball Team in the tournament this coming weekend at Spectrum school!

Calling all Basketball fans to the Senior Boys Home HOME game tonight Thursday January 9 @ 8:30 pm (vs Spectrum). Come out to cheer on the team. Fan support really makes a difference!

Girls Senior team have an AWAY game at Lambrick Park today 5:30 pm.
Both Senior Basketball teams play in 59th Annual Totem Tournament in Port Alberni on Friday & Saturday.

The Senior girls basketball team want to thank all of their fans for cheering them on to a 72 to 53 victory at home Tuesday night. It was the first time in 15 years that the Panther girls team succeeded in winning against SMU. Thanks Panther Spirit!

New Media Arts class starting in January. Develop skills in computer drawing, vector graphics, basic computer animation, or video production. Brochures & registration forms available in the office, link on website for info. See Ms. Miller with inquiries.

GRAD BOTTLE DRIVE: SATURDAY JANUARY 11, 2014 from 10 to 4 p.m.; student parking lot. Please SAVE BOTTLES & CANS!
Ask your family to save refundables & drop them off at school on January 11th.

Reminder to all students: AFTER SCHOOL TUTORIAL is starting again this week, and is available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in the Learning Commons.

DANCE CLUB MEMBERS:  Practices start again next Monday January 13 at 7:30 A.M. in the Theatre. Please let Ms. Frith know if you cannot attend. See you there!

Fashion Show Meeting Tuesday Jan 14, 7:00 pm, Parkland Theater.  Open to ALL Parkland students (all grades) & parents interested in participating in or helping with the Fashion Show, planned for Wed April 9, 2014. Only grade 12 students will be modelling/dancing/acting in the show; students from other grades are welcome to assist backstage, with food distribution, with lighting/sound, etc.  This is a major fundraising event for the 2014 Graduating class, and requires enthusiastic support from the Parkland student and parent community. Please be there!
 
CULTURAL AWARENESS / SENCOFEN LANGUAGE event: Wed January 15, @ lunch, FRONT FOYER. Please stop by & support First Nations Sencofen Language & listen to the beautiful cultural hand drum songs. EVERYONE WELCOME.

SPORTS, TEAMS, TEAM MEETINGS:

Parkland Intramural doubles badminton championship will happen next Tuesday & Weds at lunch. Get an entry form from Mr Chan to enter tournament.

Get your teams ready for Intramural Dodgeball. Pick up an entry form from the gym. Registration must be in by next Thursday to get entered in the league.

(1) Congratulations to Austin Roden's team who won the Tier II intramural championships over Sayril's team in the final!

(2) Thurs Jan 9 – Gold Medal Tier 1 final – Harrison's team versus The Plugs

Huge congratulations to the Parkland Senior Girls Basketball team who beat St Michaels 72-53 Tuesday January 8. It's the first time in over a decade the girls have beaten the St Michaels team.Kristy Gallagher lead the team with 34 points.  Breanna Clooney had her best game of the year with 16 points, Emma Dennis lead the team with 12 rebounds Lauren Fanelli hit a couple of 3 pointers and Arianne Stevenson controlled the game at point guard as well as some playing some excellent defense. WAY TO GO GIRLS YOU MADE YOUR SCHOOL PROUD!

Results of Senior Boys Basketball Game  Tuesday Jan 8: Reynolds 78 and Parkland 58.
The Sr. Boys basketball team were up by one at the half ,and down by 8 at the end of the third quarter.
Scorers: Steve Ehrlich 13 pts; Harrison Archdekin 12 pts; Godwin Porlares 12 pts.
