Any students interested in organizing a fundraiser for Nepal please meet Ms. Chicanot in front of the office at lunch on Wednesday May 6th.  Let's put some effort into helping the people of Nepal rebuild their lives.

Attention Grads

  1. Grad packages are now OVERDUE. Please return to front office asap.
  2. Nomination forms for MCs, Valedictorians, and musical performers for Grad should now be all turned in.
  3. Grad sleepover permission forms available  from the office. They are due back on Friday May 8th. No exceptions or extensions will be given.
  4. Grad dinner dance guest forms will be available Mid-May.

New Chatterhigh competition is underway. Go to www.chatterhigh.com and start earning money for Parland and great prizes for yourself! Let's catch up...

SPRING FOOD DRIVE STARTS FRIDAY MAY 1 to May 15. Bring your charitable donation!

EPIC DIGITAL MEDIA TRIP TO VANCOUVER is on again! Parkland students interested in tours of post-secondary colleges in Vancouver should attend. Trip: Tuesday May 12, and Wednesday May 13. Please contact Ms. Miller ASAP if interested.

Congratulations to Arianne Stevenson, Lauren Fanelli, Sarah Gibson and Emma Dennis, all part of this year's Junior Girl's Basketball team. All four were invited by the head coach of UVIC to join a two month elite camp, as they were identified as four of the top basketball players on the island. Thanks girl, for representing your school in a very positive and skilled way.

SCHOLARSHIPS, AWARDS AND COMPETITIONS

Rotary Clubs of Saskatoon and Rotaract: "Adventures in Technologyā€¯: tour Canada's research facilities and corporations for those interested in science, engineering or technology. Registration fee: $350 for food and social events, plus travel expenses to and from Saskatoon. Deadline: May 14.

GR 12's: if applying for Community Drug Education and Prevention award funded by Canada's Temperance Foundation, please see Mr. Choo. Deadline: May 15th.

The Coast Capital Standing Tall award of $3500 is available for a student that has "faced significant hardships and not only rose up against the odds, but demonstrate a commitment to continue their education". 

Several other scholarships are also available for students with a passion for studying second languages, music, teaching, land use, or agricultural resources.

Deadline is May 15th.  Application forms are available from Mr. Choo at his office starting this Friday.  If you'd like an application form before Friday email a request to Mr. Choo.

CAREER CENTRE

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: St. Paul's Church requests student help at fundraising concert, May 8 and May 9. Duties will include: greeting people, selling tickets, serving refreshments. All proceeds Sidney Food Bank. Shifts start @ 6:45 p.m. on Friday May 8, and 2:15 p.m. Saturday May 9. See Ms. McNamee if you can help out at this event.

Saturday May 9 @ 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at SHOAL Centre - $50.00. Looking for work in tourism, recreation or working with the public? Alert Emergency First-Aid with CPR "C" + AED. See Ms. McNamee for more info.

Sidney Elementary School is looking for student volunteers for their Spring Fling on Friday June 5th from 4;30-8:30.This is a great way for Parkland students to give back to their community and make connections! If you are a future LEADERSHIP student,  this is a great opportunity. Please see Ms. McNamee if interested.
