Mandatory meeting TODAY Friday MAY 15 at lunch @ CAREER CENTRE to discuss B.C. championships.

MONDAY MAY 18 IS VICTORIA DAY, STAT HOLIDAY, no school. Have a great weekend, SEE YOU TUESDAY!


ANY STUDENTS WHOSE FAMILY CONTRIBUTED TO THE STAFF APPRECIATION LUNCHEON LAST WEEK, please collect dishes, pans, food containers from the staff room, for return home. Many thanks!

     3. If you require transcripts for scholarship or entry applications, please be sure to give at least one day's notice

ATHLETICS, SPORTS TEAMS, TEAM MEETINGS

PARKLAND ATHLETES did EXCEPTIONALLY WELL at Track & Field meet at UVIC this week, and some of our students have already qualified to go on to B.C.'s!! So far:
Jacquilinei Gaby - First in 1500 metre race walk; Ben Sammons - Fisrt in 100 metre hurdles, and first in 300 metre Hurdle Juniors; Eric Alliston = Fourth in 100 metre Hurdles Junior; Emma Dennis - Fourth in Javelin; Lauren Fanelli, Fifth in Javelin; Sarah Gibson, Sixthin Javelin. Today, Several more students involved in finals, including relay. Good Luck, everyone!

Our JUNIOR Boys Track team, 4 young men, came in 2nd in the ISLANDS....Sayril, Eric, Joseph and Ben. Congratulations to all our Parkland athletes for such a great meet!

SCHOLARSHIPS, AWARDS AND COMPETITIONS

The North Saanich Volunteer Firefighters Association has extended the deadline for their $1500 bursary to Thursday May 21st in hopes of receiving some Parkland applicants.  Mr. Choo has the details and the application forms.


GR 12's: if applying for Community Drug Education and Prevention award funded by Canada's Temperance Foundation, please see Mr. Choo. Deadline: May 15th, today.


Coast Capital Standing Tall award of $3500 and several other scholarships available for students with a passion for second languages, music, teaching, land use, or agricultural resources. Deadline: TODAY FRIDAY  May 15th.  Application forms available from Mr. Choo.



 UVic Advisor is accepting appointments at Parkland on Wednesday, May 20th to help students with UVic timetables and registration. Sign up sheet is on Mr. Choo's office door.



CAREER CENTRE

The Vancouver Island Library is seeking a part time Library Page employee to work at the Sidney Library. Schedule Friday 3:30 TO 5:30 and Saturday 1:15 TO 5:15 P.M. Information posted on the Parkland Career Web Site, or see Ms. McNamee. Fabulous opportunity for a part time summer job!!

Sidney Elementary School is looking for student volunteers for their Spring Fling on Friday June 5th from 4;30-8:30.This is a great way for Parkland students to give back to their community and make connections!
