SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS, MEETINGS, EVENTS:

TICKETS ON SALE TODAY  in the front foyer for the HALLOWEEN DANCE which will take place on Thursday October 29 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Doors close at 7 p.m., and any students who would like to bring a guest must fill in a guest application form available from the front office. Don't miss out on this fun event!

OK Parkland, here are the results of our Student VOTES!
We had 302 votes, representing a a 64% voter turnout, JUST SHORT OF THE NEW NATIONAL AVERAGE!
Green Party - Elizabeth May won the vote by a large margin - 54% of all votes and is the only GREEN PARTY MEMBER
ELECTED TO FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.


ANYONE WHO found an error in the spelling of your name on your student card, or school bus card,  please call LIFETOUCH directly to have this corrected, asap. .ALSO: there are some local retake dates if you missed getting your photo taken, at Lifetouch: November 10 & 19, and December 4. If you are interested in working on a video project that documents local marine busineses,
please see Ms. Chicanot or leave your name at the office front desk.  We are looking for approximately 5 students
who are interested in journalism and filming. This project could turn into an opportunity to get credits for an
independent directed studies course.  Once names are collected we will have a meeting to describe the project.

UVIC VIKES SOCCER hosting INTERNATIONAL STUDENT NIGHT: Saturday October 24 @ Centennial Stadium. Women's game @ 5 p.m., Men's game @ 7:15 p.m. First 20 international students from each school at the gate will get FREE ENTRY! Every international student  after first twenty will get in to both games for half price, or $3.50. Register Parkland International students group! POST SECONDARY INSTITUTIONS B.C. (PSIBC) MINIFAIR is being hosted by Claremont on Thursday October 29 from 7 to 8 p.m. @ Claremont Learning Commons. Ten post-secondary institutions from across B.C. will be participating, including: QUEST, SFU, CAMOSUN, UVIC, VIU and others. A great event to attend with your parents and friends!

Lattitude Global Volunteering is an international youth development charity. 
Its mission is to educate young people worldwide by providing inclusive opportunities
to make a positive difference to the lives of others.

Soldier for a Day program: SATURDAY NOVEMBER 7,  2015. Introduces the role of the Canadian Armed Forces - Army Reserve in Canada and internationally. Worth 5 hours work experience. Students grades 10 to 12 should see Ms McNamee for more info.

JAZZ BAND - Monday, 7 a.m., Band Room; CONCERT BAND  - Tuesday, 7 a.m., Band Room; CHOIR - Friday, 7 a.m., Theatre.

BAGEL BREAKFAST: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday mornings, before school, @ blue tables area.

MATH HELP CENTRE:  open Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays - after school until 4 p.m. for extra math help. Meet in room 105 for help with any math course you are taking this semester.

MEZZANINE IN GYM AREA: now open at lunch, Monday to Thursday, for P.E. make-ups and for students to work out. Students must be in full PE strip and should enter through the back door of the mezz. thank you to Mrs. Beaucamp for making this happen!

AFTER SCHOOL TUTORIAL: TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY from 3:15 to 4: 30 p.m.; FRIDAY from 1:50 to 3:10 p.m. In ROOM 103.
