WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 4, 2015 - NOVEMBER IS HERE!
REMEMBRANCE DAY IS COMING - NOVEMBER 11, 2015.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS, MEETINGS, EVENTS:

Photo retakes are now available in the office for pickup during recess, lunch or before/after school only.

ALL GRADS: if you are interested in having GRAD 2016 Grad Photos, please log into
www.lifetouch.ca/victoria to book an appointment. The Lifetouch trailor will be onsite from
Nov 19 to 25 only, and bookings fill quickly, so BOOK EARLY!

Thank you Parkland, student buddies, students and staff for making our 86 KICHIJO GIRLS and their Chaperones FROM JAPAN  welcome at PARKLAND on Monday! A great day at Parkland!

Make up class LEADERSHIP CLASS today WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 4 at lunch, if you can't make it please let Ms. Frith know. Thursday's class will run as normal. 


Unable to fit an Acting or Drama course into your timetable?  Interested in getting credits for an after-school program? 
If you like to work with other creative people, Ms. Irving is looking to start a class to run from January to May 2016. All students, grades 9-12 are welcome to attend a meeting WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 4 at lunch time in the theatre.



The Math Help Centre will be closed this Thursday NOVEMBER 5 after school.

Parkland Contest:
Want to show off your creative side? Students are invited
to come up with a strong visual design for our Community Open House invitation.
Samples of previous invitations are available for viewing in the office.
Deadline:  Nov 30. Winning invitation and prize will be announced in December.

 
 
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: SISP Vancouver Trip consent forms are due no later than THURSDAY November 5th! 

International Students Meeting at Lunch Thursday November 5 for all International Students
in the theatre.  Please eat your lunch first and arrive at 11:45am.

ANYONE WHO found an error in the spelling of your name on your student card, or school bus card,  please call LIFETOUCH directly to have this corrected, asap. There will be a Senior Girls Basketball Tryout TODAY Wednesday, Nov.4th
from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.; THIS IS THE LAST TRYOUT FOR THE YEAR AND ATTENDANCE
IS MANDATORY - IF NO GIRLS SHOW THERE MAY NOT BE A TEAM THIS YEAR!

the final tryout for this season HAS BEEN SWITCHED  TO THIS THURSDAY, NOV. 5TH
from 7 - 9 p.m. ... please spread the word amongst the group!

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 6, AFTER SCHOOL - meeting at SHOAL CENTRE for any students interested in being involved in the Beacon Youth Employment Job Fair Day on February 19, 2016. A great way to volunteer in the community! See Ms. McNamee for info.


Soldier for a Day program: SATURDAY NOVEMBER 7,  2015. Introduces the role of the Canadian Armed Forces - Army Reserve in Canada and internationally. Worth 5 hours work experience. Students grades 10 to 12 should see Ms McNamee for more info.

Lattitude Global Volunteering is an international youth development charity. 
Its mission is to educate young people worldwide by providing inclusive opportunities to make a positive difference to the lives of others. Placements last 3-11 months.  Classroom presentations will take place at Parkland November 20th, to English 11 and 12 classes. See CAREER CENTRE WINDOW for information, and see Ms. Mac if interested.

JAZZ BAND - Monday, 7 a.m., Band Room; CONCERT BAND  - Tuesday, 7 a.m., Band Room; CHOIR - Friday, 7 a.m., Theatre.

BAGEL BREAKFAST: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday mornings, before school, @ blue tables area.

MATH HELP CENTRE:  open Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays - after school until 4 p.m. for extra math help. Meet in room 105 for help with any math course you are taking this semester.

MEZZANINE IN GYM AREA: now open at lunch, Monday to Thursday, for P.E. make-ups and for students to work out. Students must be in full PE strip and should enter through the back door of the mezz. thank you to Mrs. Beaucamp for making this happen!
