MUSIC TECH MEETING TODAY TUESDAY OCTOBER 25 after school in theatre for 1 hour - see Mr. Hobson with any questions.

Students, please don't forget to sell your coupon books to raise money for Parkland school.  Our goal is to have each student sell at least one coupon book.  Parent Christine Bennett is in the front foyer every day after school to take your payments or give you additional books.  Payments due by November 4th.

Welcome to Parkland - INDIGENOUS 100 YEARS OF LOSS exhibit - in  front foyer all week. This is an important and valuable exhibit on loan to Parkland- please do not touch or lean on any of the panels or columns. Do take the time before school, at lunch, break or after school to witness this historical exhibit. Exhibit is open to the public Tuesday October 25 and Wednesday October 26 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Congratulations to the Parkland team that attended the Model UN weekend at UVic, AND thanks to Ms. Stelck for sponsoring the very capable and hard working Parkland team! Special thanks to Parkland United Nations delegates Arianne and Paarth who represented Ghana in the General Assembly and Human Rights Council; to Tomas and Katie who represented the Cote d'Ivoire in the General Assembly and Human Rights Council, and to Teagan and Issac who represented Micronesia and Costa Rica in the General Assembly. These students worked very hard to represent their own countries as well as negotiating with other countries on proposed resolutions - not an easy task! They did an excellent job of representing Parkland!


STUDENT BUS CARDS HAVE  ARRIVED, AND WILL BE DISTRIBUTED TODAY AT LUNCH OR BREAK - FROM the front OFFICE.

SALTS REGISTRATION FOR SUMMER 2017 - SAIL AND LIFE TRAINING SOCIETY - registration starts SATURDAY OCTOBER 29 for one week trips, several routes around Vancouver Island on Victoria's tall ships - Pacific Swift or Pacific Grace. See website for information.

MINDFULNESS GROUP is meeting on Monday's and Friday's at lunch in the upper conference room. Come and take a break from your busy day while learning techniques to calm your mind and body. All students and staff are welcome!

ATTENTION ALL 2017 GRADS:

UNIVERSITIES AND POST-SECONDARY INSTITUTIONS WILL HAVE ADVISORS @ PARKLAND -  THURSDAY OCTOBER 27TH, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  Advisors will answer questions about admission, programs, scholarships, registration, etc.  This is a golden opportunity to GATHER INFO to assist with admission choices, applications, and future education decisions. Attending will be: Royal Roads, Trinity Western, Fairleigh Dickinson, Camosun, VIU, UVIC, Quest, Thompson Rivers University, SFU, Canadian Armed Forces, Royal Military College, Quest, Justice Institute of B.C., Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and others. SENIOR GIRLS VOLLEYBALL HOME GAME, tonight - Tuesday October 25, from 6 to 8 p.m.

CONGRATULATIONS to the SENIOR BOYS VOLLEYBALL TEAM who finished second in the SMU tournament and third in the Saltspring tournament. Ethan Bond, SayrilSalaya and Kaleb Richmond were named all-stars. The team plays league matches this Wednesday at Mt Doug, starting at 6 p.m. Come out and support your Panthers!

Solider for A Day- Saturday November 5th: One day event intended to give an interactive introduction to the various career opportunities available in the Canadian Armed Forces with a focus on the Army reserve. See Ms McNamee ASAP if you are interested!

Fire Cadet Camp-Pender Island Spring Break - If you are interested in a career in fire fighting or to being a first responder ( Fire, Police, or Paramedic). Please see Ms. McNamee ASAP!


VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES COMING UP:
1. SIDNEY LITERARY FESTIVAL READING - calling all bookworms and future authors - reading at Shoal Centre, 6:30 to 8:30 - register new members, welcome guests, and support the coffee station.

2. OCTOBER 31 - SECOND ANNUAL TREAT STREET - volunteers needed from 4 to 6 p.m.; dress up in costume and give away candy at Treat Stations, downtown Sidney. Also, volunteers needed for dog costume contest at Beacon Park from 4 to 6 p.m.

3. NOVEMBER 12 FROM 10 A.M. TO 2 P.M. - SHOAL CENTER CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR - volunteers needed to help serve coffee and cookies, and promote YEP PROGRAMS to visitors.

4. Join the volunteer student planning group for SPRING YOUTH JOB FAIR: Volunteer to plan and pull SPRING YOUTH JOB FAIR - gain experience in public relations, networking, promotion, event planning. See Ms. McNamee for further details.
