CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SENIOR BOYS SOCCER TEAM - they defeated Spectrum 5 to 1 in the semin-finals of the playoffs yesterday. Goals were scored by Shu, Riccardo, Abraa (2), and Ben. Well done boys! Parkland is now in the finals against Stelly's tomorrow Thursday November 3. The game is at Centennial, with a 3 p.m. kick-off. The boys would love it if you could come out and cheer them on - see you there!

THURSDAY NOVEMBER 3 - 24 Parkland students are going to Vancouver to participate in WE DAY. Thanks to these students and their sponsor teachers for representing Parkland!

EAGLE HEIGHTS AFRICA FUNDRAISER - major fundraiser for support of Eagle Heights School in Africa, @ Parkland Secondary, Thursday November 3, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Music, Parkland Jazz Band, Parkland Dancers, Mufaso Marimba Band. Proceeds support school students in Kenya. Adult tickets $15, Students $10 for sale at Parkland office.

Students: sell your coupon books to raise money for Parkland school.  Our goal is to have each student sell at least one coupon book.  PAC representative is in the front foyer every day after school to take  payments or give out additional books.  Payments due by November 4th.

ATTENTION ALL GRADS: on-line booking is now available for scheduling your GRAD PHOTO. The grad photo trailer will be here at Parkland from November 17 to November 23 only. Go on-line @ LIFETOUCH and select Parkland. Book now  as schedule fills up fast!

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: Vancouver Trip applications now available. Deadline for applications: November 8, 2016.

HAIRSTYLIST PROGRAM SHOWCASE: STUDIO 53 Salon @ Mt. Newton X Road - visit Studio 63 Salon to learn about the Hairdressing Program - Thursday November 10, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Find out how you can get started in this career and apprenticeship program! Refreshments served. All interested students welcome!

METAL RECYCLING BINS HAVE ARRIVED: Please place metals for recycling IN THE BIN, back teacher parking lot near the roadway. Money raised will go to support sports teams and the hockey program. Thanks in advance for your support and junk metal! Bin will be on site for TWO WEEKS ONLY -  to NOVEMBER 10, 2016.

MINDFULNESS GROUP is meeting on Monday's and Friday's at lunch in the upper conference room. Come and take a break from your busy day while learning techniques to calm your mind and body. All students and staff are welcome!

1. Join the volunteer student planning group for SPRING YOUTH JOB FAIR: Volunteer to plan SPRING YOUTH JOB FAIR - gain experience in public relations, networking, promotion, event planning. First meeting for volunteers is Saturday November 5. See Ms. McNamee for further details.

2. NOVEMBER 12 FROM 10 A.M. TO 2 P.M. - SHOAL CENTER CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR - volunteers needed to help serve coffee and cookies, and promote YEP PROGRAMS to visitors.


CANADIAN FORCES INFO SESSION: offering over 100 full and part-time employment positions between Canadian Navy, Army, and Air Force. Solider for A Day- Saturday November 5th: One day event gives an interactive introduction to various careers available in the Canadian Armed Forces with a focus on the Army reserve. See Ms McNamee ASAP if you are interested!
