THURSDAY FEBRUARY 9,  2017 SEMESTER TWO - welcome back to school!

DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS: special meetings, sports announcements, school events, regularly scheduled openings and rehearsals:

Mr. Choo will host a meeting TODAY, Thursday, February 9th at lunchtime in the Textiles room about Parkland Community Scholarships.  Most of these scholarships for available only to Parkland students that are Canadian citizens or permanent residents.  Application forms will be distributed at the meeting.  Mr. Choo will start the meeting at 11:34, five minutes after the bell for lunch.

The following students need to see Ms. McNamee at break today, Thursday February 9, regarding the Women in Trades and Technology Conference at Camosun on February 15:

IMPORTANT GRAD MEETING: next Tuesday February 14 regarding the upcoming bottle drive - @ lunch, in the Foods Room.

All international students: there is a meeting on Tuesday, Feb 14 at lunch in the theatre.

Here's an extremely urgent message to the students attending the UVic Fresh Minds Symposium with Mr. Choo next Wednesday February 15th.  Please submit your session choices today!!!  Our snow days have given Victoria school district students a two day advantage.

Uvic has an open house of their entire campus on Saturday, February 18th.  This is an excellent opportunity for any student to visit the campus, meet faculty and find out information about their many programs.  Online registration is February 15th but it's likely to fill up before the deadline so sign up soon.  Sere Mr. Choo for details.

Any students planning to write the S.A.T. this school year can contact Mr. Choo about a $150 discount on a S.A.T. prep course that starts on April 8th at St Michael's University School.

Registration now open for TC 10K. Early bird registration only $30 before Feb 15th DEADLINE. Race is taking place on Sunday, April 30th. Parkland students and staff are encouraged to register online at www.tc10k.ca to be part of the Parkland Pant'ers Island Farms School Team.


THURSDAY FEBRUARY 16, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. - COME TO PARKLAND'S ANNUAL OPEN HOUSE! Fantastic displays, hands-on activities,  and door prizes, including Helijet ride to Vancouver and back, and tickets to see a Whitecaps game! Visit your community secondary school, and find out about the current and upcoming courses and special programs. Watch your mailbox, this space, and community posters for more information!

HANDBAGS FOR HOPE COLLECTION: Clean your closets and donate new or gently used handbags, scarves and jewelry to fund CHILDHOOD CANCER RESEARCH. Bring donations to school office until February 17. Donations help local families with children diagnosed with cancer.

MATH HELP CENTRE:
