Reminder to all students, parents, Parkland families - our Open House is tonight from 5:30-7:30.  Come and check out all that Parkland has to offer!

TONIGHT: THURSDAY FEBRUARY 16, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. - COME TO PARKLAND'S ANNUAL OPEN HOUSE! Fantastic displays, hands-on activities, judo, career programs, music presentation, dance and drama videos, woodwork demonstrations and marine shop tours, metal mechanics and electronics, math puzzles and games, science demos,  cookie decorating, hockey shoot-out, rowing machines, chili and a bun - door prizes including Helijet ride to Vancouver and back, and tickets to see a Whitecaps game! Visit your community secondary school, and find out about current and upcoming courses and special programs. Bring your friends and family to see what Parkland is all about!

HANDBAGS FOR HOPE COLLECTION: Clean your closets and donate new or gently used handbags, scarves and jewelry to fund CHILDHOOD CANCER RESEARCH. Bring donations to school office until February 17.

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 18 - GRAD BOTTLE DRIVE @ PARKLAND - drop off from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Support your 2017 GRADS!

UVIC has an open house  on Saturday, February 18th.  An excellent opportunity for any student to visit the campus, meet faculty and find out about their many programs.  Online registration deadline: February 15th but it's likely to fill up, so sign up soon.  See Mr. Choo for details.

Registration now open for TC 10K. Early bird registration only $30 before Feb 28th DEADLINE. Race is taking place on Sunday, April 30th. Parkland students and staff are encouraged to register online at www.tc10k.ca to be part of the Parkland Pant'ers Island Farms School Team.


Any students planning to write the S.A.T. this school year can contact Mr. Choo about a $150 discount on a S.A.T. prep course that starts on April 8th at St Michael's University School.

Congratulations to Parkland's Senior Girls Basketball team for their amazing wins over the past weekend's tournament, as they improved each game as a team, and very much appreciated the great crowds each game. Thanks to all the student and staff and family supporters who came out over the course of last weekend, and best of luck to the grils who play this coming weekend in the Island Championships at Lambrick! Go Panthers!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES COMING UP:

SUBMIT ORIGINAL "SAFETY AT WORK" VIDEO, AND WIN A CASH PRIZE: WorkSafe B.C. looking for creative video productions that explore the topic of speaking up for safety at work. Open to students, grades 8 to 12. One video forwarded to national competition. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: Tuesday March 28, 2017. MATH HELP CENTRE:
Monday and Wednesday after school: 3 to 4 p.m., Rm 201; and Thursday morning before school - 7:15 to 8:15 IN Rm 112.
