Wednesday March 8, 2017:

TODAY IS INTERNATIONALWOMEN'S DAY - THERE ARE TWO SPECIAL EVENTS @ Parkland - one for female students, one for male students. Please help recognize and celebrate the significance of this day, and BE BOLD FOR CHANGE! We are celebrating girls and women being bold and powerful in their lives; and through the Moose Hide Project for boys and men, ending violence against girls and women.

ALL GRADE 12 STUDENTS: GRAD ASSEMBLY Wednesday March 8 in Block D. This is an important assembly in preparation for GT and Graduation Day. All Grade 12 students must attend!

ALL GRADE 12 STUDENTS: ANY STUDENTS REQUIRING AN OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT BEFORE SPRING BREAK, must order transcripts before this Thursday March 9, thank you!

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS:
(1) All International students who plan to travel on the March spring break, must have their trip applications submitted by this Thursday, March 9th. See Ms. McRae for any questions.
(2) Reminder to all those International students who have signed up for the upcoming trip to MOUNT WASHINGTON next Wednesday March 15 - there will be a short but informative meeting this coming Thursday March 9th, in Room 212 (the planning room) to check in with everyone and plan out what you need to bring with you! Bring your lunch and your questions. Don't miss this meeting!
(3) International students in grades 9, 10 and 11 - there will be a field trip to Vancouver on Wednesday April 12. Get more information and an application form from Ms. McRae in counselling area.


ALL STUDENTS - ALL COURSE SELECTIONS FOR SEPTEMBER 2017:  All forms are due back at the office by March 10th. 

PANTHER CUP DAY: FRIDAY MARCH 10 - FROM 1 TO 3 P.M. @ Panorama - make sure you have your permission forms in hand - these are required for all students to get on the buses. NOTICE TO ALL STUDENTS ATTENDING; THERE IS NO RETURN BUSSING FROM PANORAMA - Students must arrange their own transportation home from the arena after the game!

FREE WOMEN'S SELF DEFENSE COURSE - Sunday March 26 in Victoria - RSVP TO: 250-813-3569 to register. An essential class to help develop skills and confidence, to resist violence and stop abuse. Free for all women and girls. Taught by singer songwriter Auto Janz.


SPRING BREAK ART CAMPS:FROM March 20 to March 31 - classes in 3D Design and Printing; in Youth Spring Break Art Camp; Screen Printing - ALL @ MCTAVISH ACADEMY OF ART - register @MCTAVISHACADEMY.ca.

ALL GRADS ARE REMINDED: GT PACKAGES FIRST DEADLINE - MARCH 10 - better sooner than later! Hand in your completed, proofread, printed booklets to front office! absolute final deadline is: March 17 - be early, rather than late!

ROTARY CLUB OF SIDNEY APPLICATIONS DUE FOR: Adventures in Technology Camp - takes place in Saskatoon April 23 to April 28 - explore advanced technology, research, development and applications. Student registration and travel costs  paid by Sidney Rotary Club. See front foyer notice board for info, and request application form from front office. Application deadline: March 14, 2017.

EXCLUSIVE FUNDRAISER MOVIE SCREENING OF "Doctor Strange"! Takes place Thursday March 16 @ STAR CINEMA, SIDNEY, @ 6:45 p.m. All proceeds support the Parkland Jazz Band as they represent Parkland at Nationals in Niagara Falls in May. Enjoy a great movie, excellent popcorn, amazing prices, and a fun  night with friends! Tickets are $10 each and are available from the Parkland office. Seating is limited. Get your tickets ASAP!

Venturer Scout Company:
The 10th Tsartlip Venturer Scout Company (for high-school aged youth of all genders) meets Thursday evenings and is looking for new members. There is still time to register for the spring season.  Next Camp March 30-April 2.  Contact Scouter Doug Ransom doug.ransom@gmail.com 250.516.9650.



Any students planning to write the S.A.T. this school year can contact Mr. Choo about a $150 discount on a S.A.T. prep course that starts on April 8th at St Michael's University School.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES COMING UP:

VINTAGE WEDDING DRESS FASHION SHOW: 15 models are needed for this fun fundraiser. 2 models who own their own suits are also needed to accompany the models in gowns to the stage. If you ever wanted to try modeling, this will be a great experience. Fundraiser for Central Saanich Citizen Association. Takes place May 28 - see Ms. McNamee for further information.

PREPARE AND SERVE @ SUNDAY SOCIAL: Central Saanich Senior Citizen Association in Brentwood Bay looking for volunteers to prep and serve, last Sunday of the month, from March until June, from 1 to 4 p.m. See Ms. McNamee to get involved.

SUBMIT ORIGINAL "SAFETY AT WORK" VIDEO, AND WIN A CASH PRIZE: WorkSafe B.C. looking for creative video productions that explore the topic of speaking up for safety at work. Open to students, grades 8 to 12. One video forwarded to national competition. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: Tuesday March 28, 2017. MATH HELP CENTRE:
Monday and Wednesday after school: 3 to 4 p.m., Rm 201; and Thursday morning before school - 7:15 to 8:15 IN Rm 112.
