THURSDAY OCTOBER 26,  2017:

1. Door Decorating: decorate your block C door with the best Halloween decorations and the class who wins will win a prize! Winner will be picked on Halloween day.
2. Trick or Treating: Come to school dressed as in your best Halloween costume and trick or treat during break and lunch! More information on participating classes will be posted later.
3. Costume Contest: At lunch in the foyer, come wearing your BEST Halloween costume and winner gets a cool prize! Stick around for a group photo too!


ALL GRADS: GRAD PHOTOS TAKE PLACE ALL THIS WEEK. Be sure to make an appointment!

SALTS - SAIL AND LIFE TRAINING SOCIETY - SUMMER 2018 BOOKINGS BEGIN OCTOBER 28 - experience a life changing ten day sail on a tall ship from various points to and around Vancouver Island. The next Mandarin 12 Challenge will be held on Monday, November 6 at 4 p.m. at SIDES.  The exam will cost $150.  Please see Mrs. McRae for the application form.    Please check that the universities you are applying to will accept a mark from a challenge course.

OSEF non-profit group which facilitates reciprocal student exchanges between Canada and Europe, is holding its  first 2018/19 exchange year general information meeting: TUESDAY NOVEMBER 21, from 6:30 to 8 p.m,, @ CLAREMONT SECONDARY. Students aged 13 to 17 are matched with partners from France, Belgium or Spain, based on similar interests, and take turns hosting each other in their respective countries. GRADE 12 'S: U of Toronto NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP  accepting applications. This scholarship fully covers tuition & expenses for four years of undergrad study at U of T. Deadline: Nov 3, 2017. Email Mr. Choo or Ms. Rioux for details.

ATHLETICS, SPORTS TEAMS, TEAM MEETINGS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:

JUNIOR AND SENIOR GIRLS BASKETBALL - SUNDAY OCTOBER 29 - OPEN GYM FROM 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. - anyone interested in playing girls basketball this year, please attend!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SENIOR BOYS SOCCER team as they beat SMU 7 to 2 Tuesday afternoon! Goals were scored by Matt, Kaleb, Shu (2), and Lorenzo with the hat trick! Great work team...next game is this Thursday against Vic High, 3:30 at Blue Heron. Come out and cheer the Panthers on!

PARKLAND SWIM TEAM competed at the 2017 BCSS Vancouver Island Zone Swim Meet in Nanaimo this part weekend, and 4 of our swimmers qualified for Provincials in November! Our 4 qualifying Panthers are: Nick Lukie, Brendon Cripps, Torge Von der Geest, and Saki Takahashi. Everyone worked very hard and represented Parkland very well with their effort, responsibility, and good sportsmanship! Way to go, Panthers!

(1) CHEF ON THE RUN: looking for organized, reliable and friendly person to work one day a week, Saturdays. Position is for a Deli Counter clerk whose duties include packaging meats, serving customers, and making sandwiches. See Ms. McNamee for info.

(2) New job - if you are computer savy, and can help with organizing photos on-line, social media, and can take dictation for two hours  a week, local senior in Deep Cove area would love to hire you! She is also long for a student to do two hours per week housecleaning. See Ms. McNamee for details.

(3) Woodstock Evergreens and Saanichton Christmas Tree Farm is hiring - work weekends and over Christmas holidays to harvest Christmas trees. Six students needed to work weekends and over Christimas. See Ms. McNamee for information.
