***Local Freemasons are sponsoring an essay contest for just Parkland and Stelly's students. There will be at least one winner from each school, for a cash prize. Grade 11 and 12 students are eligible. The deadline will be towards the end of January. The topic is: "Civility as Seen Through the Eyes of a Senior Secondary Student". Contact Mr. Choo for details.


*** $100,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship - an entrance scholarship, worth up to $100,000, for student studying Science, Technology, Engineering or Math. Deadline for applying to be considered as Parkland's nominee: Friday January 17, 2020.

*** $40,000 Cmolik Foundation Scholarship: Cmolik Foundation will provide up to $40,000 to a youth who has experience financial need and faced adversity in their life. Deadline for applying to be selected as Parkland's single nominee is Friday, January 31st. Please contact Mr. Choo for details. The application will take some time to complete, so don't procrastinate.

TSUKINO-CON CONVENTION- takes place February 21 to 23, 2020 @ UVIC - get your name in to volunteer early! Annual anime, games, and Japanese culture convention, supports a variety of local charities. Registration, technicians, concession volunteers needed. See Ms. McNamee for volunteer registration, more information.

TEAC 105 explores FOUR TECHNOLOGIES THROUGH HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES, PROJECT-BASED LEARNING - 3 hours per week; 13 weeks @ CAMOSUN, Fridays from 3 to 6 p.m., Limited seats. See Ms. McNamee if you are interested in: CIVIL ENGINEERING; MECHANICAL ENGINEERING; ELECTRONICS; COMPUTER SCIENCE!


STAC: SKILLS TRAINING APPRENTICESHIP CARPENTRY and TEX: TRADE SAMPLER PROGRAM - two new programs to explore trades; through SD63 District  - starting February 2020. See Ms. McNamee for details on making an application!
