MEETING TOMORROW (APRIL 4TH) AT LUNCHTIME IN ROOM 110

SNSYC along with Royal Victoria Yacht Club and the local School Districts are pleased to be organizing and hosting the Vancouver Island School Sailing League. With an emphasis on learning to sail, and fun competition, the league is an ideal opportunity for students from Grades 6 – 12 to form school sailing teams.
The original session had over 100 students from Victoria area schools participating in the fall of 2012 and we are now pleased to be organizing a spring league starting in April 2013.
Here’s a brief overview of the program:
Spring session dates: April 6 – June 1, 2013
On the water practices at SNSYC, twice a week from 4pm to 6pm
Final regatta on Saturday June 1st at RVYC with all the schools teams
No sailing experience is necessary! Just an interest in boats and the water
The emphasis is on learning, safety, and fun! Friendly competition is a bonus
A lead coach is assigned to each team and is responsible for running the practices and safety
Boats: Optimist, Flying Junior, and 420 dinghies
Training: conforms the national CanSail certification program
Price: $197 plus tax per student.
Now is the time for Peninsula schools to start forming your teams and finding parent/teacher sponsors!
