MEETINGS, PRACTICES, announcements, SPECIAL EVENTS:
Last  CROSS COUNTRY PRACTICE: Monday at 3:15 p.m. Please meet on the track, ready to run. Team members wanting to run in next week's Island Championship race must have confirmed their participation with Ms. Dibblee.

Green Team meeting: Monday @ lunch in room 104. All members please attend to receive info about the BC Hydro Energy Ambassador program - new members always welcome.

Listen Up Parkland!! Are you READY for the GREATEST Lazer Light show we've ever had at a Parkland dance? Do not miss out!! Wear a costume, no full face masks please!
Halloween Dance Tickets on Sale in front Foyer @ Lunchtime - $5 each!  
HALLOWEEN DANCE Wed Oct 30th, doors open at 6:30 p.m.

"Parkland Panthers!  It's that time of year again! DROP EVERYTHING AND READ day - Monday, October 28th @ 11 a.m.! Please be sure to have a book, magazine, newspaper, e-reader or smartphone  - stop what you are doing, drop everything & read for 20 mins!  This is an annual event that Parkland has supported greatly in the past - let's continue this great tradition to support reading all over the school!  We will have a fun ZOMBIE video just before we drop everything, to get everyone fired up.  All you need to do is come down to the Learning Commons & get something good to read!"

Pumpkins on the Pier is the kickoff event to launch the 2013 Toys for Tots campaign which provides Christmas presents to less privileged children on the Saanich Peninsula.
Starting October 19th, toys can be dropped off at Mary Winspear Centre. People who donate a new, unwrapped toy will be given a coupon for a free pumpkin, courtesy of Michell Bros Farms. Participants can pick up a pumpkin, carve it & bring it along to enter in the contest held on October 26th at Beacon Park. 

Pumpkins on the Pier takes place: 4 p.m.  to 7 p.m. on Saturday October 26th. Contests for pumpkin carving, pumpkin pie eating & apple biting. Open Stage for youth musicians to perform. Costumed children can trick or treat through downtown Sidney, where businesses will providie candy treats. Finally, the event will conclude with a pumpkin parade from Beacon Park to Bevan Pier.  Pumpkins will be placed on hay bales along the pier for display through the week up to Halloween.

Students taking SD 63 SCHOOL BUS should now show bus cards. Pick up your bus card at front office as soon as possible, during break, at lunch, or after school.

AFTER SCHOOL LEARNING SUPPORT: Wednesday & Friday - Room 115, after school.

ACADEMIC TUTORIAL: Tues, Wed, & Thurs - in the Learning Commons, after school.

COUNSELLOR APPOINTMENTS:
Sign up for appointment on Counsellor's office door calendar. To leave class for an appointment, please request teacher's permission.

GRAD 2013 INFO: keep in touch via school website and check for next meeting.

GRAD 2014 BOTTLE DRIVE FUNDRAISER IS COMING UP: Saturday November 16, 2013, from 10 a.m. To 2 p.m. in student parking lot. All students, staff, & parents are welcome. All refundable drink containers accepted. Bottles may be deposited at Parkland, or placed in separated bags or containers at the bottom of home driveways for pick-up in: Sidney, Deep Cove, and Dean Park. Anyone looking to volunteer, please contact Madison Watley at 250-686-7145. All proceeds support Parkland 2014 Graduating Class.
