MEETINGS, PRACTICES, announcements, EVENTS:
IMPORTANT MEETING : ALL INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS Tuesday October 29th at lunch in the theatre.

Reserves ready in the learning commons for Taylor Westendorp and Dane Dirkson.

Tuesday October 30th – Peer Helpers BAKE SALE during lunch hour in main foyer by front office. All proceeds go to Salvation Army. There will be many delicious treats, so come down and get something sweet!

Any students interested in being part of DANCE CLUB please meet with Ms. Frith this Wednesday October 30 @ lunch in room 206.

HALLOWEEN DANCE WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 30 FROM 6:30 TO 9:30 – HAVE YOU GOT YOUR TICKETS YET? Dance Tickets on Sale in front Foyer @ Lunchtime - $5 each!  

"Vital Youth is supporting the We Scare Hunger Campaign. This Halloween, stop hunger before it strikes! Collect non-perishable food items for your local food bank. "Trick or Treat, give me food to eat."

THURSDAY OCTOBER 31 – VISIT FROM KICHIJI JAPAN – 86 Japanese students,  and their chaperones. Please give a warm Parkland welcome to all our visitors, who will have Parkland buddies through the day, escorting our visitors to their classes.

Attention all international students: Please get your forms and payment to the international office by Friday November 1 for the November 21st. Vancouver trip. Space is limited, come early to avoid disappointment.

JUNIOR BOYS BASKETBALL : last OPEN GYMS ARE TODAY Tuesday October 29 from 5:15 p.m. To 6:30 p.m., and Thursday October 31 from 6:45 a.m. To 8 a.m. Next week will be OFFICIAL TRYOUTS!

SENIOR BOYS BASKETBALL: next OPEN GYM, 7 P.M. THURSDAY.

Intramurals:
Any students wanting to play in the Intramural Handball league, please pick up an entry form from the gym. DEADLINE FOR INTRAMURAL HANDBALL ENTRIES IS WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 30, TO MR. CHAN.

SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS & COMPETITIONS:

ARTISTS, WORDSMITHS, OR FILMMAKERS LEGION REMEMBRANCE DAY CONTEST in  ART, VIDEO,& WRITING now open. DEADLINE:NOV 15, 2013.Competition rules: www.legionbcyukon.ca.  

The Horatio Alger Jim Pattison BC Scholarship program  offers $5000 scholarships to a graduate starting at a post secondary institution no later than fall of 2014. Applicant must have demonstrated integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity and has critical financial need, and a minimum grade percentage of 65%.  Deadline is December 1st, 2013. There are twenty  $70 000 TD Scholarships for Community Leadership available to students that have shown exceptional initiative in making a meaningful and lasting difference in their community.  Deadline is December 6, 2013.  See Mr. Choo for details or apply at www.td.com/scholarships.

The November 15th deadline for students taking online courses and wishing to be eligible for the Winter Dance is rapidly approaching.  Any grade 12 students taking required courses through an online school to meet minimum graduation requirements must show that they have at least two assignments completed by November 15th.  The list of 29 students needing to verify is currently posted on the bulletin board in the counselling waiting area.  Mr. Choo will start asking for your verification after Hallowe'en.

GRAD 2014 BOTTLE DRIVE: Saturday Nov 16, 2013 - 10 a.m. To 2 p.m. - student parking lot. Deposit bottles at Parkland, or place in driveways for pick-up in: Sidney, Deep Cove, & Dean Park. Volunteers: please contact Madison through school office.

All students interested in  a half day tour of UVic's Engineering facility – Parkland will try to reschedule for spring as fall is already full. Please see Mr. Choo if interested.
