October 1 – CANADIAN LIBRARY AND WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH!

MEETINGS, PRACTICES, announcements, EVENTS:

MONDAY OCTOBER 6 IS STUDENT PHOTO DAY!

ALL STUDENTS PLEASE BRING IN THEIR SIGNED BROWN STUDENT PACKAGES – ESPECIALLY GRADE 9'S ARE NEEDED TO HAND IN THEIR IMMUNIZATION PACKAGES.

Attention Jr. Girls Volleyball players, there will be a quick meeting today at lunch in Ms. Thompson's room 108 to talk about Monday's game.

Like to read books?  to talk to other people about books you're reading?  Join Parkland's Book Club!  Meeting in the Library at Lunch on Friday to select our first book.  Open to everyone in the school, students & staff.  See you on Friday!

FOR ALL NEW INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: There will be an important meeting at lunch in the theatre, Tuesday October 7.

If you have not yet picked up your 2013-2014 YEARBOOK, please see Mrs. Allen in the Library / Learning Commons.

B.C. TRANSIT & SOME SCHOOL BUS PASSES ARE AVAILABLE AT FRONT OFFICE.

OSEF EUROPEAN SUMMER EXCHANGE applications are now open. Please check the website www.osef.ca for upcoming info meetings. Applications accepted, until April, for July and August 2015 exchange trips.See front office window & announcement board .

SPORTS, TEAMS, TEAM MEETINGS:

Congratulations to the Sr. Boys SOCCER team as they played Esquimalt high. Parkland's goal was scored by Kalen Hunter. The team played very well. Come out and watch them play at Parkland next Thursday, Oct 9.

Congrats to the Parkland Cross Country team for an excellent first race of the season! New runners are always welcome to join us, the next practice is Monday at 3:15.

FIRE CADET CAMP INFORMATION:
Interested in a Career In Fire Fighting? FIRE CADET CAMP takes place on Pender Island on March 23-28th, 2015. This intense training program covers emergency response on land, sea and air. Can you imagine carrying 50 feet of hose line while racing up two storeys? Cutting into wreckage to save a trapped motorist?This is the Camp for YOU?Information session FAST approaching on October 9th on Salt Spring Island.This camp fills up fast! See Ms. Mac ASAP for more details!

CENTRE FOR SPORT & EXERCISE ED at Camosun College is having an information session for students interested in their programs – THURSDAY OCTOBER 16 & THURSDAY NOVEMBER 20.   See Ms. McNamee for info.

   MUSIC REHEARSALS before school in the mornings:
     Rehearsal Schedule: Mon (7-8:15am) - Jazz Band; Tues (7-8:15am) - Senior Concert  
   ;  Wed (7-8:15am) - Jazz Band;  Thurs (7-8:15am) - Senior Concert; Fri (7-8:15am) - Choir .

WEEKLY – ALL YEAR:
BAGEL BREAKFAST: BAGELS/JUICE : TBA; start date later this term.

AFTER SCHOOL LEARNING SUPPORT: starts Wednesday October 8, will take place each Wednesday and Friday, after school, in Learning Services Room 204.
