SPORTS, TEAMS, TEAM MEETINGS:

Congratulations to the JR girls basketball team for their outstanding performance in their opening tournament. The girls went 3 wins, 1 loss. They won their first two games against Crofton House from Vancouver and Saint Michaels on Friday by big margins. They played one of the top 3 teams in the province, Lord Tweedsmuir from Vancouver Saturday morning, in one of the semi finals. They put up a great fight but wound up losing to the eventual tournament winners. In the second last game of the tournament, the girls played Harry Ainsley from Edmonton and ultimately finished the tournament with a win and the third place trophy. Way to go girls for an awesome start to the season and more hardware for the trophy case.

Junior Girls Basketball team won their first Home game this season against St. Micheal's yesterday. Thanks to the support of all the fans! Top scorers Arianne 23 points, Emma 18 points and Sara 8 points. All of the girls should be proud of how well they played as a team!

The Sr. Boys Basketball team hosted a successful tournament this past weekend. They placed sixth against some very strong competition. Congratulations to Godwin Porlares for being named to the All-Star Team. A special thank you to Kiddle, Jerry Chu, Kristy Gallagher, Kate Service the Jr. Boys & Girls Basketball players for scorekeeping.

PLAN AHEAD FOR 3RD ANNUAL AVIATION CAREER DAY: Saturday February 21, from 10 to 3 @ B.C. AVIATION MUSEUM, Sidney, B.C. The following “the sky's the limit” corporate employers and post secondary educators will be represented: BCIT Aerospace Program, Dept of National Defense, Viking Air, Victoria Flying Club, Transport Canada, UVIC, North Island College; NAV Canada, Victoria Airport Authority, Victoria Airport Authority, Air Cadets, Camosun and others.

CONGRATULATIONS to the following students who were selected to attend the week long FIRE CADET Camp on Pender Island in the spring.There was lots of competition for this camp and all 4 Parkland students were accepted!  A huge accomplishment! Congrats to: Steve McColm; Molly Andrews;  Liam Geary;Brad Provan.

TEX Trades Exploration Program: students interested in Trades Exploration Program - 5 month program offered by SD63 is a sampler of Welding, Carpentry, Plumbing and Electrical.
