ATTENTION ALL SENIOR FOODS STUDENTS: TODAY'S FIELD TRIP HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

FOOD DRIVE last week this week @ Parkland! Donations enter your class into BLOCK B prize winning competition! HELP FILL THOSE BOXES! 1 LOONIE = 3 CANS! Pizza lunch next Thursday for top Block B class.

KNITTING FOR THE HOMELESS: Want to learn to knit? Thursdays @ lunch, in RM 212.

PING PONG CLUB MEETS EVERY TUESDAY & THURSDAY at lunch in Rm 208.

Parkland Writing class is collecting work for  a publication of writing from our talented students. See posters in hallways or see Mr. Wong, for details.

TUESDAY DECEMBER 16 – LAST DAY THIS YEAR FOR CAFETERIA! CLOSED THE REST OF THE WEEK...pizza will be available each day at lunch – providing lunch and fundraisers for various community and school groups.

SPORTS, TEAMS, TEAM MEETINGS:

BIG NEWS: Parkland JR Girls Basketball Team Won the 22nd Annual Victoria Christmas Tournament over the weekend. They dominated Gleneagle 62-26, York House 68-54, Stelly's 44-25 and Claremont 51-46. This special team of Girls & Coaches have earned two trophies already this season. top Scorers game averages  were Arianne Stevenson 24 points, Lauren Fanelli 14, Sara Gibson 10, & Emma Dennis averaged 10 rebounds per game! Well Done Girls!  Thank you to the Parkland Staff who came out to support the team! Next game is today Monday December 15 @ 4:15 at Stelly's.

Congrats to the Junior Boys Basketball Team
Congrats to all members of the Junior Boys BBall Team who played a solid game at Reynolds last week & beat the home team 45 - 38 to earn their first league victory of the year; special congrats to our Gr 10 starters including Dylan Reid, Ethan Bond, Sayril Silaya, Cam Harvey, & Jared Serdenia for their strong play, & to Mr. Serdenia for accumulating his highest point total in a game : 23!  Way to go boys!!

PLAN AHEAD FOR 3RD ANNUAL AVIATION CAREER DAY: Saturday February 21, from 10 to 3 @ B.C. AVIATION MUSEUM, Sidney, B.C. The following “the sky's the limit” corporate employers and post secondary educators will be represented: BCIT Aerospace Program, Dept of National Defense, Viking Air, Victoria Flying Club, Transport Canada, UVIC, North Island College; NAV Canada, Victoria Airport Authority, Victoria Airport Authority, Air Cadets, Camosun and others.

CONGRATULATIONS to the following students who were selected to attend FIRE CADET Camp on Pender Island in the spring.There was lots of competition for this camp and all 4 Parkland students were accepted!  A huge accomplishment! Congrats to: Steve McColm; Molly Andrews;  Liam Geary;Brad Provan.

TEX Trades Exploration Program: students interested in Trades Exploration Program - 5 month program offered by SD63 is a sampler of Welding, Carpentry, Plumbing and Electrical.
