This week all "B" Block classes are getting a special presentation in the Library about the upcoming Student GAFE accounts.  If you do not have a B Block class, or were away for this presentation, please come and see Mr Mueller right away in the Library.
 
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS - deadline for Camp Qwanoes trip is today Thursday, September 22. Application to Ms. McRae in Counselling. There are a few spots left, so bring application and payment at Ms. McRae at lunch or after school today.

First meeting of the MUSIC TECHNOLOGY CLUB will be Friday September 23 at lunch in the Band Room. Please come right at the bell. See Mr. Hobson if you have any questions.

ALL STUDENTS: UVIC MENS BASKETBALL TEAM will be playing at Parkland on SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 24 @ 7 P.M. This is the 2nd ANNUAL BASKETBALL GAME hosted at Parkland. Proceeds go to the Sidney Food Bank. No cost to attend but please bring food donations. Bring your friends to see a terrific night of BASKETBALL!

ALL SENIOR STUDENTS: IF INTERESTED IN DESIGN AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, a meeting is being held next Tuesday September 27 from 9 to 4 p.m. at the Pier Hotel  to plan what the downtown Sidney streetscape will look like. Please let Ms. Chicanot know if you are interested in attending this all day workshop.

 
CALLING ALL WRITERS: If you believe THE PEN IS MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD, if cliches make your skin crawl, if you'd like to take your storytelling beyond It was a dark and stormy night, then come join the Creative Writing Club. ALL STUDENTS: PHOTO RETAKE DAY IS OCTOBER 18. All students must have their photo taken, as these are used for YEARBOOK and STUDENT records system. Please be sure to have your photo done or redone TUESDAY Oct 18.

UNIVERSITY OF VICTORIA HOSTS Model United Nations Club Conference, from October 21 to 23, 2016. Opportunity for high school students to follow their interests and exercise their abilities in debate and diplomacy, while creating plausible solutions to issues that are currently plaguing the world. This year's theme: Global Unity - Social, Political and Economic Protection of Vulnerable Peoples.

UNIVERSITIES AND POST-SECONDARY INSTITUTIONS WILL HAVE ADVISORS @ PARKLAND - THURSDAY OCTOBER 27TH, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Information will be provided about each institution, with advisors encouraging you to attend, and answering questions about admission, programs, scholarships, registration, etc., about each place. These advisors will provide up-to-date and through knowledge about their school. This is a golden opportunity to learn all the information you need to assist with your admission choices, applications, and future education decisions. Attending will be: Royal Roads, Camosun, Vancouver Island University, UVIC, Quest, Thompson Rivers University, SFU, and others. Mark your calendar now!

SAANICH PENINSULA U18 GIRLS BASKETBALL: Fun Night League Basketball - no experience necessary! Takes place @ Bayside Middle School, Monday evenings, from 7:30 to 9 p.m., October to March. Register through Panorama Recreation Centre, $50.

Peninsula Co-op Gas and Convenience Store opens in November, at McDonald Park Road,  two blocks from Parkland, and is looking to HIRE! Come and meet the new Gas Bar Manager and two members of the Peninsula Co-op Human Resources team.  They will be here to give a presentation to interested students, and conduct mini interviews on the spot.
