In block B classes all this week and next we will be collecting "Toonies for Terry and Tour de Rock" to help support the Terry Fox foundation as well as the Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock. Bring in your extra toonies all this week and next and let's see if we can make our goal of $1000 by the end of next Thursday. 

There will be a quick meeting Wednesday September 28 at break in the theatre for students who were in last year's advanced dance class. Please see Ms. Frith if you cannot be there.
 
WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 28 - DEBATE CLUB meets Wednesday in Mrs. Stelck's room 111. If you are interested in attending the UVIC model United Nations conference in October, please attend this meeting.

WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 28 - TENNIS CLUB MEETING after school in the Career Centre. We will start playing next week. Please see Mrs. Anderson if you can't make this meeting.

Hello Parkland!
When School Pictures are taken, a Parkland student ID card is created.  Please carry ID with you for the entire school year so you can use it to borrow books in the library.  Students who use Student ID Cards to borrow books will be entered into a prize draw in October!
STUDENT ID CARDS ARE NOW AVAILABLE AT FRONT OFFICE - YOU MUST KNOW YOUR TAG TEACHER TO PICK UP YOUR STUDENT
CARD. Please come at break, lunch or after school only for pick-up.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: Whistler Ski Trip Applications will be available from Ms. McRae in Counselling @ BREAK, LUNCH, OR AFTER SCHOOL.

UNIVERSITY OF VICTORIA HOSTS Model United Nations Club Conference, from October 21 to 23, 2016. Opportunity for high school students to follow their interests and exercise their abilities in debate and diplomacy, while creating plausible solutions to issues that are currently plaguing the world. This year's theme: Global Unity - Social, Political and Economic Protection of Vulnerable Peoples.

ATTENTION ALL 2017 GRADS:

UNIVERSITIES AND POST-SECONDARY INSTITUTIONS WILL HAVE ADVISORS @ PARKLAND - THURSDAY OCTOBER 27TH, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Information  provided about each institution, with advisors answering questions about admission, programs, scholarships, registration, etc. Up-to-date and through knowledge about each school provided. This is a golden opportunity to learn all you need to assist with your admission choices, applications, and future education decisions. Attending will be: Royal Roads, Camosun, Vancouver Island University, UVIC, Quest, Thompson Rivers University, SFU, and others. Mark your calendar now!

ATHLETICS, SPORTS TEAMS, TEAM MEETINGS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:


The Cross country team is to meet Mr. Thomas outside the cafeteria today after school for the meet.

ALL BOYS BASKETBALL PLAYERS; JUNIOR AND SENIOR - regular Sunday night drop-in with Mr. Coughlin, runs from 7 to 9 p.m. in Parkland Gym. Please come out for a run to play some pick-up basketball to get ready for the upcoming season!

JUNIOR AND SENIOR GIRLS BASKETBALL PLAYERS: regular Sunday night drop-in, from 5 to 7 p.m. See you there!

SAANICH PENINSULA U18 GIRLS BASKETBALL: Fun Night League Basketball - no experience necessary! Takes place @ Bayside Middle School, Monday evenings, from 7:30 to 9 p.m., October to March. Register through Panorama Recreation Centre, $50.

Sara Lawton, from Beacon Community Youth Employment Program, will be in the Career Centre Thursday at Lunch to meet with any students interested in joining this amazing team.  If you are already a member, come and connect with Sara!
Beacon Community Services offers YEP services to provide our community’s younger citizens with opportunities to work, train and volunteer. YEP also helps our community by connecting people with enthusiastic, hard-working YEP students who can:Give volunteer support to local charities and events, or take on paid work in the community. Teens, you’re eligible for this free program if you’re 14-18 years old and  educated in the Saanich School District (SD 63).  You can:
Choose your level of participation; Attend interesting training, workshops and courses to prepare for a successful career future.
Get certificates for First Aid, Food Safe and other skills that employers look for.Get help with your resume, cover letter, and interview skills. Make money and/or earn graduation credits for volunteer experience.

JAZZ BAND - Monday and Wednesday; 7 a.m.;  CONCERT BAND - Tuesday and Thursday, 7 a.m.; CHOIR - Friday, 7 a.m. ALL REHEARSALS TAKE PLACE IN THE MUSIC ROOM.

BAGEL BREAKFAST:
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday mornings, before school, at the BLUE TABLES area.
