PHOTO RETAKE DAY IS tomorrow TUESDAY OCTOBER 18. Photos are used for YEARBOOK and STUDENT records system, and to create student bus cards. Please be sure to have your photo done or redone TUESDAY Oct 18.

SALTS REGISTRATION FOR SUMMER 2017 - SAIL AND LIFE TRAINING SOCIETY - registration starts SATURDAY OCTOBER 29 for one week trips, several route choices around Vancouver Island on Victoria's tall ships - the Pacific Swift or the Pacific Grace. See website for further information.

MINDFULNESS GROUP is meeting on Monday's and Friday's at lunch in the upper conference room. Come and take a break from your busy day while learning techniques to calm your mind and body. All students and staff are welcome!

UNIVERSITY OF VICTORIA HOSTS Model United Nations Club Conference, from October 21 to 23, 2016. Students follow their interests  in debate and diplomacy. This year's theme: Global Unity - Social, Political and Economic Protection of Vulnerable Peoples. Please contact your teachers for further information and to arrange permission to attend this special conference.

ATTENTION ALL 2017 GRADS:

UNIVERSITIES AND POST-SECONDARY INSTITUTIONS WILL HAVE ADVISORS @ PARKLAND - THURSDAY OCTOBER 27TH, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  Advisors will be answering questions about admission, programs, scholarships, registration, etc.  This is a golden opportunity to GATHER INFO to assist with your admission choices, applications, and future education decisions. All Cross Country runners need to see Mr. Thomas in the cafeteria today or tomorrow to confirm your running in this weeks' race and Islands next week. Practice will be tomorrow (Tuesday) after school, meet on the track at 3:15.

ALL BOYS BASKETBALL PLAYERS; JUNIOR AND SENIOR - regular Sunday night drop-in with Mr. Coughlin, runs from 7 to 9 p.m. in Parkland Gym. Please come out for a run to play some pick-up basketball to get ready for the upcoming season!

CAREER CENTRE, CAREER EVENTS, WORK EXPERIENCE, JOB AND VOLUNTEER POSTINGS:

Solider for A Day- Saturday November 5th: One day event intended to give an interactive introduction to the various career opportunities available in the Canadian Armed Forces with a focus on the Army reserve. See Ms McNamee ASAP if you are interested!

Fire Cadet Camp-Pender Island Spring Break - It's not too late! If you are interested in a career in fire fighting or to being a first responder ( Fire, Police, or Paramedic). Please see Ms. McNamee ASAP or chat with Emma Van Wyk. This is an amazing opportunity!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES COMING UP:
1. OCTOBER 22 - SHOAL CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR preparation - volunteers needed to help make gift tags out of Christmas cards; many hands welcome, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

2. OCTOBER 31 - SECOND ANNUAL TREAT STREET - volunteers needed from 4 to 6 p.m.; dress up in costume and give away candy at Treat Stations, downtown Sidney. Also, volunteers needed for dog costume contest at Beacon Park from 4 to 6 p.m.

3. NOVEMBER 12 FROM 10 A.M. TO 2 P.M. - SHOAL CENTER CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR - volunteers needed to help serve coffee and cookies, and promote YEP PROGRAMS to visitors.
