TUESDAY DECEMBER 6 - ah, the scent of snow in the air!

DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS: special meetings, sports announcements, school events, regularly scheduled openings and rehearsals:


INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS:  International students who want to go to the Stelly's Christmas Party must sign up by December 9. See Ms. McRae in Counselling.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS are reminded of the DEADLINE FOR OVERNIGHT TRIP APPLICATIONS for the Christmas break is Friday, December 9. See Ms. McRae if you have any questions.

CAN / FOOD DRIVE RUNS to December 16 - please bring in non-perishable food items, cash or cheque to donate to Sidney Lions Food Bank. Collection on Tuesday & Thursday in Block B. Prizes will be awarded to Top class in each grade and winning class overall.

A reminder that English help starts today.  Any student wanting help with their English course work can go to the Learning Centre (room 204) at lunch on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, and will be staffed by a retired English Teacher. Please see Ms. Chicanot if you have any questions.

CHESS CLUB meets on Fridays after school in Room 206 - improve your game and beat your friends! All new members welcome!

TEX - TRADES EXPLORATION PROGRAM - spring session - i full month each of WELDING, CARPENTRY, PLUMBING, ELECTRICAL - SD63, in partnership with Camosun College, offers a trade exploration program in Semester 2 where students are introduced to various trades. VOLUNTEERS WANTED FOR PARKS CANADA - FOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS! Get outdoors, learn about Parks Canada, have fun, and connect wth people in the community. Gain volunteer credits! See Ms. McNamee for details about this special opportunity.


BRIDGE CHRISTMAS DINNER @ Shoal Centre: Wednesday December 7 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. - Host and serve at this buffet dinner for over 100 people. This is an opportunity to spread the holiday spirit and gain experience in  hosting and serving.

12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS LUNCH @ SHOAL CENTRE: Tuesday December 20 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. - Volunteers will gain serving experience with support staff; musicians and 12 days of Christmas surprises!

B.C. AVIATION MUSEUM KIDS FEST @ Aviation Museum, Tuesday December 27 and Wednesday December 28 from 11 to 3 p.m. Volunteers needed! Flight simulators, flyinig tables, games and crafts. Special Aviation event over the Christmas break!


SUBMIT YOUR ORIGINAL "SAFETY AT WORK" VIDEO, AND WIN A CASH PRIZE: WorkSafe B.C. is looking for creative and original video productions that explore the topic of speaking up for safety at work. Contest open to all students enrolled in grades 8 to 12. One video will be forwarded to national competition. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: Tuesday March 28, 2017. MUSIC REHEARSALS ALL YEAR:
JAZZ BAND - Monday and Wednesday; 7 a.m.;  CONCERT BAND - Tuesday and Thursday, 7 a.m.; CHOIR - Friday, 7 a.m. ALL REHEARSALS TAKE PLACE IN THE MUSIC ROOM.

MATH HELP CENTRE:
Monday and Wednesday after school: 3 to 4 p.m., Rm 201; and Thursday morning before school - 7:15 to 8:15 Rm 112.


ENGLISH HELP CENTRE:
Starting December 6 - The English Help Centre will run Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at lunch in the Learning Centre (room 204) and it will be staffed by a retired English teacher.  Please see Ms. Chicanot if you have any questions about this.
