GRAD BLOOD DRIVE: you have the power to give life! GRAD BLOOD DRIVE - DONATE BEFORE YOU GRADUATE - MUST BE 17 TO DONATE. Monday May 1 @ Shoal Centre, Sidney, from 12 to 7 p.m. Photo ID required; have a good lunch; drink lots of water; cookies and juice for everyone after! See posters around the school, and book an appointment!

The Parkland Mock Trial team argued their way to the finals in the Provincial Mock Trial Competition this Saturday at the Victoria Law courts and won second place against 14 other schools! Congratulations to the witnesses Cathy Lee and Cordaliene Van Marrum and the lawyers, Paarth Mittal,  Arianne Stevenson, Tomas Kalyniuk, Emma Jackson and Katie Lee.  Well done Katie Lee who won Best Lawyer overall for the whole competition!  A HUGE success for Parkland!

Congratulations to Angela Chou who is the Sidney and Peninsula Literary Festival writing contest winner for the grade 10-12 category.  Well done Angela!

Reminder to all grads that your Grad ceremony package is due Thursday APRIL 27 - please take  the time to sit with your parents and complete all the pages, THEN return the package to the office. REMEMBER: FRONT COVER OF ENVELOPE MUST BE COMPLETED!

Any students interested in playing music at the grad ceremony at UVic -- applications were due on April 13th.  If you want to be considered for this and did not get your application in on time, please see Ms. Chicanot asap.

FRIDAY APRIL 28 - NON-INSTRUCTIONAL DAY - no school!

SUNDAY APRIL 30 - TIMES COLONIST 10k! Are you participating this year? If you are running with the Parkland Pant'ers TC 10K team, your shirts and bibs will be available for pick-up at the office @ Parkland this Friday after 9 a.m. If you cannot pick up your bib at Parkland, please email Ms. Dibblee to make other arrangements. Reminder: this Friday is a NID day - no school!

SCHOLARSHIPS NOTICES AND GRAD 2017 NOTICES: see notice boards and Mr. Choo for details of scholarships, grants, deadlines.

FIVE  scholarships with deadlines approaching soon:
1. A Brand new Union Club $5000 Service Scholarship due April 30.
2.  FOUR AWARDS of $1,500 available - DEADLINE: MAY 1, 2017. See Mr. Choo, and/GRAD BOARD for application details .
3. North Saanich Volunteer Firefighters' community service  bursary of up to $1500 due May 11.
4. A new scholarship is available to graduating students that are an active member of a faith group.  Details of the $1000 Reid Kyfiuk Memorial Scholarship are available by emailing Mr. Choo.  The deadline is May 15th.
5. Rotary Club of Sidney by the Sea $1000 "Service above Self" scholarship due May 15.  Please note: even if you have applied for this scholarship in the Parkland Scholarship package, you will have to re-apply because the process has just been changed.

INSTITUTE OF OCEAN SCIENCES is holding a four day OPEN HOUSE, from June 1 to 4 inclusive, and is looking for high school student volunteers and assistants. Please see Ms. McNamee for information, and to sign up for volunteer hours!

SIDNEY LITERARY FESTIVAL looking for volunteers with creative writing skills, or editing skills, to adjudicate the writing contest submissions for festival. See Ms. McNamee for further information.



AFTER SCHOOL TUTORIAL:   TUTORIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE EVERY DAY AFTER SCHOOL - except Mondays - TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY AND FRIDAY AFTER SCHOOL, in the Learning Centre Room 204.


MATH HELP CENTRE:
Monday and Wednesday after school: 3 to 4 p.m., Rm 201; and Thursday morning before school - 7:15 to 8:15 in Rm 112.


ENGLISH HELP CENTRE:   Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at lunch in the Learning Centre (room 204), staffed by a retired English teacher. Please see Ms. Chicanot if you have any questions about this.


 SIDES HELP CENTRE: has started on Tuesday and Thursdays after school in the career centre. Come and get help with any SIDES course. See Ms. Anderson in the counselling office if you have questions.

CULTURAL ROOM TUTORING IS NOW AVAILABLE: Every day after school from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m., in the CULTURAL ROOM. Please see Ms. Mack for assistance with assignments, studying for tests, or other tutoring needs.
