MONDAY MAY 1, 2017: TERM 4 HAS NOW STARTED!

ALL NEW SEMESTER TWO INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS please meet in the Counselling Area @ lunch today. This is very important as you need to have your photo taken for various school uses.

CONGRATULATIONS to all members of the Parkland Pant'er TC 10K team for yesterday's run. Once again, the fastest "once a Panther, always a Panther" was Mr. Harry Bisjak, followed in second place by Mr. Roome. Miss Kerr was the fastest female staff member, and Emma Dennis the fastest student. Thanks to all of our runners for being part of our Panther team!

Congratulations to all the wonderful performers at the fantastic Grad Talent Show last week. Thanks to all the students who worked hard to make the show such a success.  Thanks to Ms. Frith and Ms. Thompson who helped the students put it all together! CONGRATULATIONS to Mr. Brouwer who won the draw for 2 round trip tickets to anywhere Westjet flies!

Saanich-Gulf Islands MP Elizabeth May will be visiting Parkland on Friday May 5th in C block.  She will be talking about her role as our MP and will be answering any questions that students may have.  If you are interested in attending this session which will be held in the theatre, please pick up a permission form from the office.

Special message for grade 12 scholarship seekers: Scholarship deadlines are rapidly approaching.  Check your email, if you're on Mr. Choo's scholarship email list, or SEE Mr. Choo's door for a list of  local scholarships, their deadlines and who you have to send the applications to.

1.   FOUR AWARDS of up to $2,500 available - DEADLINE: MAY 1, 2017. See Mr. Choo, and/GRAD BOARD for application details .
2.. North Saanich Volunteer Firefighters' community service  bursary of up to $1500 due May 11.
3. May 15 deadline for: Diane Cross Award for the Arts; Jack Fleming Memorial for Music; Joy Paquin Memorial for Future Teacher; Marilyn Pinder Legacy scholarship; Orchid Bursary, See notice boards and emails for details!
4. A new scholarship is available to graduating students that are an active member of a faith group.  Details of the $1000 Reid Kyfiuk Memorial Scholarship are available by emailing Mr. Choo.  The deadline is May 15th.
5. Rotary Club of Sidney by the Sea $1000 "Service above Self" scholarship due May 15.  Please note: even if you have applied for this scholarship in the Parkland Scholarship package, you will have to re-apply because the process has just been changed.

 SIDES HELP CENTRE: has started on Tuesday and Thursdays after school in the career centre. Come and get help with any SIDES course. See Ms. Anderson in the counselling office if you have questions.

CULTURAL ROOM TUTORING IS NOW AVAILABLE: Every day after school from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m., in the CULTURAL ROOM. Please see Ms. Mack for assistance with assignments, studying for tests, or other tutoring needs.
