ALL STUDENTS: tomorrow is once again SPORTS AND CLUBS INFO DAY - see displays, meet coaches and other students involved in various teams, clubs and activities at Parkland. Sign up, learn some new skills, make some great friends!


This is call for all junior and senior girls wanting to play basketball this year please see Ms, Gribling in the front office ASAP.

THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 21 - GRAD PARENT MEETING  @ 7 p.m. - help plan for 2018 Graduation!
This grad parent meeting tonight in the Learning Commons at 7:00 p.m. is to make this event a success for your grads we will need a group of at least 10 Parents to get things started. There will be many more volunteers needed through the year for fundraising events and for the Aftergrad night! If you are interested in being a part of this committee and would like more information on what the parents do to help their Grads, please come to this meeting.

ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF: THIS COMING SATURDAY NIGHT is VIKES NIGHT at Parkland -SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 23 - University of Victoria MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM will be playing an intrasquad game at Parkland gym, @ 6 p.m. Entry to the game by donation to local food banks! See you there.

Are you an artist, a wordsmith or a filmmaker? Essays, poems, colour and black and white posters welcome.
Create something about Remembrance Dayand what it means to you and your country and you could win local and national prizes, including cash, travel or Apple products. Deadline for your entry is Nov 15 and entry forms are available at the office.

HALF A WORLD THEATRE IS BEGINNING A DRAMA COURSE: McTavish Academy of Art, from October 3 to December 5, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each week. More information and registration @ mctavishacademy.ca.


THURSDAY OCTOBER 5 FROM 1:30 TO 3 P.M. - CANADIAN UNIVERSITIES EVENT takes place at Parkland! More than 40 universities and colleges will be on site, with information, displays, application requirements, scholarships, housing and student residences availability. Be sure to attend and explore some future education options!



ATHLETICS, SPORTS TEAMS, TEAM MEETINGS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:
If you are a student interested in athletics, sports teams, and team try-outs, please see athletic department for upcoming schedule.

FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN COMPETING AND PLAYING ON THE SENIOR BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM THIS YEAR:
please attend both try-out sessions on Tuesday September 26 from 7 to 9 p.m., and Wednesday September 27 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Our drop-in badminton club will be starting NEXT Friday, September 29th, as we don't have the gym space this week. No experience necessary! Come see Ms. Robertson if you would like more information.


ATTENTION ALL boys soccer players - next practice Thursday September 22. League play starts September 25 so all must attend.

ATTENTION: ALL STUDENTS INTERESTED IN RUNNING CROSS COUNTRY. There will be a short team practice Thursday after school. Please meet on the track, ready to run at 3:20 p.m. If you would like to run but can not make practice, please see Ms. Dibblee in the PE office at lunch on Friday.

INTRAMURAL VOLLEYBALL will be starting next week. Please come to the main PE office in the gym to get your team sign up form. Team sign up is due this Friday September 22.

Learn how to create a budget, reach your financial goals, adjust spending to accomplish life goals, choose the right bank account, make interest work for you and not against you, and other tips! NEW JOB POSTINGS:

(1) Commercial Landscape Maintenance company is seeking one or two individuals for daily early mornig service to commercial property in Sidney. Individualmust be able to transport some equipment from home, and arrive on site for 6 to 6:30 a.m. daily, for a one hour shift each morning. Duties include litter pick-up, and larger debris reporting. All supplies provided. Some lot maintenance or janitorial experience preferred. Uniform is mandatory, and is also provided. See Ms. McNamee for application details.

(2) KUMON MATH AND READING CENTRE: two grade 11 students with strong English skills, thinking of a career in Teaching!  Must be available after school on weekdays. Please see Ms. McNamee for further information, and find out how to apply.

(3) SIDNEY / NORTH SAANICH LIBRARY - part-time LIBRARY PAGE job openings. Must be committed to quality customer service; provide good verbal and written communication; be enthusiastic about innovation and working with the community. May include after school, evenings, weekend shifts. See Ms. McNamee about application. Deadline to apply: September 20 @ 4 p.m.
