Theatre doors open at 6:40 p.m. - show begins promptly at 7:00 p.m. All evening ticket prices are $15.00.

Explore trades & technologies career pathways - electricians, auto service techs, sheet metal fabricators, carpenters, civil engineering, computer science, electronics engineering, mechanical engineering. SATURDAY FEBRUARY 24 - YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM JOB FAIR @ Shoal Centre, Sidney - 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. - meet employers with summer and part-time job openings! Door prizes for the first 50 registrants!



SATURDAY FEBRUARY 24 - SOLDIER FOR A DAY - from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. - 715 Bay Street, Victoria, B.C. For all students interested in CANADIAN ARMED FORCES RESERVES, how a soldier is trained, what equipment and vehicles are used. Experience a portion of the annual fitness test, and receive basic instruction in marching and drill. SPACE IS LIMITED, so early registration is encouraged. See Ms. McNamee for registration details, and further information about the day. PLEASE NOTE: There will be an info and prep meeting WEDNESDAY JANUARY 31 in the Career Centre for interested students.

1. SHAW CENTRE FOR THE SALISH SEA: cashier, information, merchandising, telephone reception, clean-up - $12 per hour, part-time, Saturdays and Sundays, usually 10 to 12 hours per week. Some evenings required. See Ms. McNamee for details.

1. NORTH SAANICH YARD WORK - work alongside avid gardener and artist, start ASAP. Four hours a week, $15.00 per hour.

2. ELK LAKE YARD AND HOUSEWORK - two students needed; one outside and one inside help required;  Saturdays for 6 hours each day, starting in March @ $12.00 per hour.

3. MOTHER'S LITTLE HELPER needed in Roberts Bay area. Tidy house, do light chores. See Ms. McNamee for further details.

4. SIDNEY BOTTLE DEPOT - students to work weekends, and full-time in summer.

5. SIDNEY BAKERY - workers for after school, and on weekends.

6. HAWTHORNE PLACE - $15 per hour, 4 hours weekly; looking for landscaping, yardwork help.


VOLUNTEER POSTINGS:

1. NEW VOLUNTEER POSTING - Volunteers needed - looking for energetic, patient and FUN volunteers for the English Language Learners group! For the past two years Parkland students have volunteered with elementary school-aged English language learners at North Saanich Middle School. this is a partnership with the Inter-Cultural Association and the ELL students in SD63. Volunteers are partnered up with a little buddy, to play games, draw, talk, and enjoy a snack together. The group will meet at North Saanich Middle School every thursday after school, starting February 8 to March 15. If interested, please see Ms. McNamee right away. A special meeting for this group wil take place TUESDAY JANUARY 30 @ lunch in the Career Centre.


2. YOUTH CULINARY - COOKING - takes places at North Saanich Middle School;  5:30 to 7:30 p.m., every second Tuesday; starts February 6. See Ms. McNamee for info and application process through Panorama Recreation Centre. Details - Career Boards.

1. FREE RESUME WORKSHOP - January 27, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. - get started on resume, or polish up your existing resume. Register for morning, afternoon, or all day. Bring laptop if possible  as laptop availability is limited.

2. BASICS OF FINANCE - credit and loans - January 27 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. @ Shoal Centre. See Ms. McNamee to register.

3. FOOD SAFE LEVEL 1 - MONDAY MARCH 5 - 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - food service, food retail, food processing required. $50 fee.

4. WORK SAFE FOR YEP - Friday May 4 - 3 hour FREE WORKSHOP; great for resume.

5. ALERT FIRST AID - SATURDAY MAY 5 - 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. - basic CPR, first aid, hands-on training. $50 registration.
