REMINDER TO ANY STUDENTS WHO DID NOT PICK UP THEIR REPORT CARDS LAST FRIDAY - come to the office before school, at break, at lunch, or after school for pick-up! Please do not leave classes to collect report cards!


GRAD PACKAGES ARE NOW OVERDUE! Please turn in your completed package ASAP to front office.


NEW TALENT SHOW INFORMATION:

1. ALL THOSE PERSONS INVOLVED IN THE TALENT SHOW, please meet in the Foods room on Tuesday May 1 at lunch.

2. ATTENTION EVERYONE: the PARKLAND TALENT SHOW will take place on Tuesday May 8 at lunch in the theatre. Please bring a donation to Grad 2018 for admission.


PARENT-TEACHER INTERVIEWS - TAKING PLACE ON Thursday May 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. can be scheduled by calling: school office @ 250 - 655 - 2700.


AN IMPORTANT REMINDER FOR GRADE 12 STUDENTS: YOU NEED TO BE 70% complete in any SIDES course required for graduation by May 1. Please make an appointment with Ms. Chicanot if you need to discuss your eligibility for grad.

3 MESSAGES FROM PARKLAND PAC:

1. PARKLAND PAC AGM - TUESDAY MAY 1, @ 7 P.M., IN THE LEARNING COMMONS: All Parkland parents are encouraged to join this important group of parent / guardian representatives. See Parkland website link for more information.

2. STAFF APPRECIATION DINNER - THURSDAY MAY 10 - Parkland PAC is organizing a Staff Appreciation meal, to show Parkland staff how much they are appreciated. See website link to become involved, to contribute, and to volunteer.

3. Do you know Parkland has a BAGEL PROGRAM? Bagels and juice boxes are available Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:45 to 8:20 each week, @ 25 cents each, funded by the PAC group, as well as local donations.  Volunteers are needed to keep this program running. To help out,  please contact Christine - lainecrt@telus.net.


OSEF EXCHANGE PROGRAMS: INDIVIDUAL RECIPROCAL PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS 13 to 17 - either 1 month summer program, or 3 month student program in Europe! See: www.osef.ca website for details, posters on notice and grad boards. See Ms. McNamee for further information. APPLICATION DEADLINE: MAY 1, 2018.

ALL GRADS: SCHOLARSHIPS, BURSARIES AND GRAD INFORMATION:

If you're related to a current or past member of the BCGEU and able to write a short essay about protest and activism, you could qualify for a $2000 scholarship.  Deadline is April 29 at midnight.  Mr. Choo has more details.


BEACON COMMUNITY SERVICES offers 3 - $1500 scholarships for students dedicated to community service & volunteerism. IN OTHER WORDS, support for those who exemplify our mission of helping people & improving lives! Deadline: Tuesday May 1, 2018.


If you're a community minded resident of North Saanich, you can apply for $1500 bursary sponsored by North Saanich Volunteer Firefighters.  Volunteer service to the community is an important criteria.  Deadline is May 3rd.  Mr. Choo has more details.

ATHLETICS, SPORTS TEAMS, TEAM MEETINGS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SENIOR GIRLS SOCCER TEAM for their first win of the season - 5 to 0 - over St. Margaret's. Alexis Van Den Bulk scored a hat trick and Karla Castaneda and Saki Takahashi scored a goal each. Rachael CArter and Herlande Aubourg shared the shut-out in net. The girls have been working hard to improve and yesterday's victory was the result of excellent teamwork. The Panthers play their last home game of the season on TOMORROW Tuesday May 1 at 3:45 at Blue Heron versus Lambrick Park.


CONGRATULATIONS TO Parkland's CAITLIN GAULT for being selected on the SOUTH VANCOUVER ISLAND BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION JUVENILE TEAM that will travel to Vancouver, Las Vegas, Anahein and Seattle in the next few months.


PARKLAND ULTIMATE - Mondays & Wednesdays, after school, either 3:15 or 2:15 p.m., upper field. Everyone welcome, boys & girls, grades 9 to 12. No experience necessary!

b. SIDNEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL has their annual SPRING FLING on Friday May 25th. If you are interested in volunteering for this fabulous community event, please see Ms. McNamee ASAP.

c. GRADE 12 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: GET ON BOARD WITH THE STAND-UP PADDLEBOARD NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS -new event sponsored by SURFCANADA and Town of Sidney. Variety of volunteer jobs - SATURDAY MAY 26 , SUNDAY MAY 27.

d. BRENTWOOD FESTIVAL -Saturday June 2 - from 9 a.m. to 1, or 12 to 4 p.m.  -  help at the children's activities booth by face painting, demonstrating crafts,colouring activities.

e. ACCESS AWARENESS - SATURDAY JUNE 2, from 10:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. - @ Shoal Centre - run the accessibility challenge, act as support through the event - created in conjunction with Rick Hansen's "Man in Motion" tour.

f. DEAN PARK PET HOSPITAL is on the search for volunteers - that may or may not lead to a paid position! If you have an interest in working with animals, this is a perfect position for you! See Ms. McNamee for more details!

1. ROOM 201, EACH DAY FOR 1 HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES, with Mr. Morley - available to help students with MATH, CALCULUS, SCIENCE, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY. OPEN to all students, including those working on SIDES courses.

2. TUTORIALS IN LEARNING CENTRE: REMINDER TO ALL TEACHERS AND STUDENTS - TUTORIAL IS AVAILABLE daily after school.                                            Wednesday & Friday tutorial times are best for longer tests & assignments.
3. LEARNING COMMONS SUPPORT: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday day after school until 3:40 p.m., Wednesday   & Friday until 3:35 p.m.                                    PLEASE NOTE: ELL TUTOR also available Wednesday & Friday after school.
