NEW INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: there will be a meeting on TODAY Thursday September 13 @ lunchtime in the theatre for all NEW INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS to have a slice or two of pizza, and learn about the fun actitivites at Camp Qwanoes!


MEET THE TEACHER NIGHT - TONIGHT Thursday September 13 - from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. PLEASE NOTE: NO EARLY DISMISSAL this date. Buses run as usual.

STARTED: Adult Community Boating Courses - EVERY Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. - community boating and marine basics, until November.


FIRST ROWING MEETING: FIRST ROWING MEETING WAS HELD last week for students of all grades and all skill levels with interest in joining the rowing team. No experience necessary. Come to the NEXT meeting to find out more! Please contact Mr. Hilton if you are interested in joining ROWING TEAM!

(2) CURVES SIDNEY - looking for female student interested in health and fitness. Working with women of all ages, and different abilies and goals. First Aid a must! Part-time, 4 hour shifts, $12.65 per hour.

(3) BISTRO SUISSE - busser / server assistant / dishwasher - part-time, $12.65 per hour.

(4)  "SURLY MERMAID"  looking for two dishwashers, $15 per hour, plus tip share. Shifts from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.; 2 to 3 days per week. Requires fun / positive attitude!


NEW TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES:

1. FOOD SAFE LEVEL 1 - Friday October 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. @ Shoal Centre. Useful for anyone working in food services, retail, or processing. Learn how to handle food safely to prevent contamination. Register now $50.

2. ALERT FIRST AID with CPR C AND AED: Saturday October 20, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. @ SHOAL CENTRE , registration $50. Fun and interactive course training - how to react and assess emergency, prevent disease, do secondary survey, deal with airway obstruction. Includes adult / child / infant CPR, and use of automated defibrillator. Hands on!

3. RETAIL TRAINING - FREE! Offered in Sidney and Brentwood Bay. Training in: working a cash register, counting cash, customer service, creating displays, sorting inventory, assisting with pricing, and opening and closing. Register now!

TUTORIALS & COURSE WORK ASSISTANCE - LOTS OF ACADEMIC SUPPORT AVAILABLE! IN SEPTEMBER:

1. ROOM 201, EACH DAY FOR 1 HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES - help with MATH, CALCULUS, SCIENCE, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY. OPEN to all students, including those working on SIDES courses. TO BE CONFIRMED.

2. TUTORIALS IN LEARNING CENTRE: REMINDER TO ALL TEACHERS AND STUDENTS - TUTORIAL IS AVAILABLE daily after school.    Wednesday & Friday tutorial times are best for longer tests & assignments. TO BE CONFIRMED.
3. LEARNING COMMONS SUPPORT: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday day after school until 3:40 p.m., Wednesday & Friday until 3:35 p.m. TO BE CONFIRMED.

4. MATH & SCIENCE HELPavailable every day after school in Room 208. TO BE CONFIRMED.
