TODAY : kicking off Parkland's FUNDRAISING FOR CANCER week - TOONIES FOR TERRY, and TOUR DE ROCK fundraisers. Block B classes will be visited today by leadership students.


OPENING MONDAY SEPTEMBER 24 - from 8 to 4 p.m. - CREATIONS OF THE MIND ART SHOW @ Tulista Park, featuring Parkland students. With the support of ArtSea, the art students of Parkland are proud to present a group show of digital and traditional media curated by, and featuring, grade 12 student Olivia Erfle. The show will run from September 25 to 30 at the Tulista Art Centre in Sidney. Please join us for this celebration of student creativity.


CANADIAN UNIVERSITIES EVENT:  @ Stelly's School Tuesday, SEPTEMBER 25. CUE will be hosted at Stelly's TOMORROW at 1 p.m. There is still time for you to get a consent form in if you're interested. If you're returning your signed consent form, Missed Class Action Plan and $5 for the bus, please hand in to Ms. McRae in Office 401 in the counselling area. Bus to Stelly's will depart from Parkland at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow.

SAANICH CAREER EDUCATION PRESENTS: PARENTS AS INFORMED PARTNERS - Thursday October 4, 7 p.m. @ Charlie White Theatre, Mary Winspear Centre. Learn about various specialty programs in the school district; learn about dual credit, and how students access post secondary opportunities and trades training while still in high school; parent and student panel shares experience; meet reps from our partner post-secondary institutions; find out about career and education options for your children. Followed by break-out session - talk to the experts! See you there!

coming in NOVEMBER: CLAREMONT SECONDARY WILL BE HOSTING THE PSIBC (POST SECONDARY INSTITUTIONS OF B.C. ) event on Thursday November 15, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Meet advisors on application, registration, housing, scholarships and bursaries options. All SD 63 secondary students and families welcome!


PAC Volunteer Opportunities: Parents and Guardians - we need your help! Volunteering is a great way to connect with the school, students and staff. And it’s lots of fun too : )

Spirit BBQ - Friday Oct 5 - approximately  10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Help with serving lunch to our students and staff.

Bagel Breakfasts - Monday, Tuesday & Thursday mornings from 7:30 - 8:15 a.m. Duties include: minimal set- up, collecting payment of 25 cents!, and a quick tidy up.  Even helping one shift a month would be super, thank you!!!

$100,000 LORAN SCHOLARSHIP awarded for character, service and the promise of leadership is receiving applicaotins until October 17th. There were 34 winners across Canada last year. LORAN also offers scholarships of $5000 and $2000. Check the LORAN  website or meet with Mr. Choo for details if you'd like to be Parkland's nominee.

CROSS COUNTRY PRACTICE will be Tuesday September 25 after school at 3:20 p.m. Please meet on the track ready to run. If you are interested in being part of a growing team, and can't make Tuesday's practice, please see Ms. Dibblee ASAP!

(1) HILLSIDE CAREER FAIR - SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 29, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Many different Hillside retailers participating - visit Guest Services for a list, and bring several properly completed resumes!

(2) WORKBC JOB FAIR - THURSDAY OCTOBER 18, from 1 to 4 p.m., @ Central Baptist Church, 833 Pandora at Blanshard. Featured employers include: Indigo, Fairway, WalMart, Canadian Tire, Lowe's, Slegg Lumber, Serenity Home Care, Homewood Health Care, B,C, Transit. note: this is an early dismissal day @ Parkland - get your resume tuned up to attend, especially if you live close to one of these many employers!

(1) SHOAL CENTRE DINING ROOM SERVER, ON CALL - food safe and first aid required; for weekend and weekdays, including evenings. $17 per hour. If you do not have food safe and first aid, you can still apply and take the YEP course!

(3) LOCAL AND SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS STUDENT GREETERS JOB POSTING: for Saturday October 20, 2018 - $100 for six hour shift; either 8 to 2, or 2 to 8. Students are required to attend one hour training previous; $20 compensation for training time. Applications are due TODAY Friday: September 21, 4 p.m., See Ms. McNamee for details.
