MARK YOUR CALENDARS: GRAD FUNDRAISER COFFEE AT LUNCH! TODAY the Grads are hosting a coffee bar in the Foods Room at lunch. Come and get a latte, an espresso, or one of the specialty drinks. All funds raised go to the Grad 2019 class.


FLOAT FOR SIDNEY PARADE: If you have carpentry and painting experience, & would like to help build a float for the Sidney Sparkles Christmas parade, please come to Rm 108 today @ lunch. If you can't make the meeting, but are interested, talk to Cameron Bolduc!


REMEMBRANCE DAY CEREMONIES: taking place Thursday November 8th. Students will be called by class to Remembrance ceremony.


FRIDAY SIGN LANGUAGE CLUB:  meets every Friday @ lunch in Room 206. For all those interested in learning SIGN LANGUAGE - please come check out our club! Everyone welcome!


FRIDAY NOVEMBER 9: SIDNEY SUMMIT FAIR ON HABITAT AND THE ENVIRONMENT at Parkland - students be sure to attend!


CALL TO ACTION: in the face of climate change, what can you do? Sidney / North Saanich Library Teen Advisory Group will fill a special bag with letters, wishes, photos & drawings about sustainability & the Saanich Peninsula environment - to be presented to Elizabeth May at Sidney Summit on Habitat and Environment at Mary Winspear Center, Saturday November 10, 2018.  Submissiona accepted: Sidney / North Saanich Library or by email sidney@virl.bc.ca until Friday November 9.

INTERNET SAFETY PRESENTATION: SD 63 extends an invitation to parents and caregivers of District 63 students to attend a presentation by the White Hatter - Brandon Laur - on Internet Safety and Digital Literacy on November 14, 2018 @ CORDOVA BAY ELEMENTARY, 7 to 9 p.m.


STELLY'S  hosts PSIBC  (POST SECONDARY INSTITUTIONS OF B.C. event: Thursday November 15,  6:00 to 8:00 p.m. @ Stelly's.  Advisors on application, registration, housing, scholarships. All SD 63 secondary students and families welcome! See event below too!


PARENTS AS CAREER COACHES: also Thursday November 15, @ STELLY'S SECONDARY SCHOOL, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Speaker Marion Haythorne leads workshop for parents: help children make educational decisions. Interactive exercises explore student values, strengths and skills, matching potential education path and career.  Helps you help your children make good choices!


SATURDAY NOVEMBER 17 - SOLDIER FOR A DAY - free work-study program shows those interested in the B.C. ARMY RESERVE how a Reservist is trained and the tasks they do. SPORTS TEAMS IN ACTION THIS WEEK:

BIG NEWS FROM THE ROWING CITY CHAMPIONSHIPS THIS PAST WEEKEND! ON THE PODIUM WERE:

- 1st, Junior Boys Quad - Marshall Walden, Oliver Howard-Batek, Rowan Keeler & Devon Keeler.

- 3rd, Senior Advanced Men's Eight - Luke Lepage steered the crew to a third place finish! Nicholas Lukie, Anna Hulbert, Danaka Howard-Batek, Kelsie Wolfe, Devon Keeler, Brandon Morino, Cor Van Stolk & Escher Nicholson. 1000 metre course, finishing in 3 minutes, 36 seconds!

- 2nd, Junior Novice Men's Quad - Rowan Keeler, Marshall Walden, Nicholas Sullivan & Harrison Martin competed hard for a very respectable finish.

- 2nd, Junior Men's Eight - Nicholas Sullivan, Aaron Demers-Kovacs, Jari Scott, Oliver Howard-Batek, Harrison Martin, Marshall Walden, Rowan Keeler, Devon Keeler - perfectly steered by Anna Hulbert - place second to Claremont in a time of 3:57.

- LAST BUT NOT LEAST - Parkland won the JUNIOR EFFICIENCY AWARD for this regatta. This means our Junior program performed BEST IN THE ENTIRE CITY per entry made in the regatta. A good sign for Parkland Rowing!

(1) NEW JOB POSTING: Ardmore ; labourer for yard work, firewood, greenhouse, digging - $13  hour, 6 hrs per week; need own transport. 

(2) ALERTS: Several yardwork, raking, clean-up jobs  - Sidney, North Saanich; computer and printer set-up jobs - Sidney.

(3) LOCAL PHARMACY looking for CUSTOMER SERVICE representative / cashier on evenings and weekends. 

(4) CHEF ON THE RUN: student part-time, Saturdays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Duties: making sandwiches, meal packaging; $12.50 per hour. 

(5) DAIRY QUEEN, SIDNEY: looking for students, part-time. Apply to Shirley Murray, with resume. 

(6) PET CARE: Peace at Home Pet Care & Cat Grooming in-home pet care visits. Own transportation required; $15 per visit.

new: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR PENINSULA SOCCER ASSOCIATION - if you love soccer, and are looking to volunteer, Peninsula Soccer needs your help! Also, if you are looking for 30 hours for Grad Transition, this would be a great and fun opportunity!

1. SIDNEY SUMMIT ON HABITAT AND ENVIRONMENT - SATURDAY NOVEMBER 10 - ticket fee waived for volunteers. 

2. SHOAL CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR - SATURDAY NOVEMBER 17 FROM 10 A.M. TO 2 P.M. - serve coffee and cookies,  wrapping gifts. 

3. LIONS CLUB - BREAKFAST WITH SANTA- SATURDAY DECEMBER 1 - serving food to young families whose children come to see Santa.

4. SIDNEY SPARKLES PARADE - SUNDAY DECEMBER 2 -  decorate the Beacon Community Services truck, and walk in the parade! 

5. SHOAL CENTRE BRIDGE CLUB DINNER - WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 5 - serving and banquet help. Check for evening start time!

6. SIDNEY AVIATION OPEN HOUSE - FRIDAY DECEMBER 28 - museum, old planes, paper airplane making, crafts, aircraft carrier demonstration, flight simulators, new flying maze, and more!

1. TUTORIALS IN LEARNING CENTRE, ROOM 204:  SUPERVISED TUTORIAL IS AVAILABLE daily after school, TO CATCH UP ON SCHOOL WORK, & TO DO MISSED TESTS.  note: Wednesday & Friday tutorials are best for longer tests & assignments.
