***ALL STUDENTS: please TURN IN YOUR BROWN START-UP ENVELOPES with all the forms completed. This is very important for entering your current information into our students records system, and for your student email sign-up!


*** REMINDER TO ALL LEADERSHIP STUDENTS: we will be meeting every Tuesday and Wednesday at lunch in the theatre. If you are unable to attend class for some unavoidable reason, please talk to Mr. Mickelson or Mr. Frith to find out what you missed.


***This week's CROSS COUNTRY PRACTICES will be Wednesday and Friday after school from 2:15 to 3 p.m. Please meet on the track ready to run! Students who want to be part of the team but cannot make practice this week need to check in with Ms. Dibblee.


DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS: The first Dungeons and Dragons Club meeting will be tomorrow after school in room 200.


*** ALL INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: DEADLINE for Camp Quanoes trip is Thursday, September 19. Bring your application to Ms. McKinney in Counselling if you want to to sign up, space is limited.



*** UVIC ADVISOR VISITING PARKLAND: TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 24TH - UVIC advisor is coming to provide information about programs and admission. All students are welcome, but Grade 11's and 12's, in particular, are encouraged to attend the lunch break meeting in Room 104.


***THE ONE-WEEK JOB PROJECT with SEAN AIKEN - 1 man, 1 year, 52 jobs - an exciting careers presentation, TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 24, 2019, BLOCK B! Be sure to attend!


*** Are you interested in computers? Do you like technology? Come join the Parkland Tech Club. We meet Thursdays at lunch in the Library. Come see Mr. Mueller in the library if you'd like to join.


BIG BIG NEWS: METAL RECYCLING BIN HAS RETURNED TO PARKLAND! Please spread the word about this fundraiser for Parkland's athletic programs. All metal donations welcome, and can be dropped off in the bin the second parking lot at Parkland.


Teens looking for an interesting volunteer opportunity are invited to join the Sidney / North Saanich Library Teen Council. Work on special library and community projects, meet other teens, have fun, boost your resume, and earn volunteer hours.  For more information, please contact Mr. Mueller or Jadzia in the Library.

ASL SIGN LANGUAGE CLUB - No experience necessary! Sign Language club meets every Friday at Lunch - come out and learn sign language, and make some new friends! Meetings take place in Room 206.

GREAT JOB AT WESTWIND HARDWOOD: clean up, after school hours, start at minimum wage. Clean lumber shop, assist with sorting lumber, assist on machines. Great for Joinery or Carpentry student. Ideal if you have a spare in Block 4. Apply in person with resume.

TEMPORARY PART-TIME OFFICE ADMINISTRATION JOB OPEN: Arbutus Grove Nursery family owned and operated nursery - expanding team to include temporary part-time office administrator and payroll assistant. Work 8 to 15 hours per week, from October to March. Duties include: data entry, compiling reports, scheduling, taking meeting minutes, filing, scanning and other duties. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Access, PowerPoint and Publisher. Wages: $13.85 per hour to $15.85 per hour, based on experience. TRAINING AND SPECIAL COURSES OFFERED:

FOOD SAFE LEVEL ONE: Friday October 25th, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - $50 - useful certification for anyone working in the food service, food retails, or food processing industries. Learn how to handle food safely. Sign up early - this course usually fills up!


ALERT FIRST AID WITH CPR AND AED: Saturday November 22; from 8:30 to 4 p,m.; fun and interactive course give training in reacting and improvising time priority, lie threatening emergencies. Covers all aspects of first aid. Sign up early - this course fills fast!
