PARKLAND DAILY NEWS: Welcome to the 2nd ISSUE - SCHOOL CLOSURE VERSION

for FRIDAY MAY 22, 2020 -  Friday a.m. distribution only until SCHOOLS RE-OPEN, OR END OF JUNE 2020.


DAILY NEWS WILL BE COMING THIS WAY EACH FRIDAY UNTIL CLASSES FULLY RETURN TO THE SCHOOL BUILDING, OR UNTIL THE END OF JUNE 2020 providing STUDENT, STAFF, AND COMMUNITY INFORMATION.

TRANSCRIPTS ARE NO LONGER MAILED FROM B.C. MINISTRY OF EDUCATION. Graduated students must go on-line to: Student Transcripts Service TO ORDER GRAD TRANSCRIPT. 


ALL GRADS: SCHOLARSHIPS, BURSARIES AND GRAD INFORMATION: check Grad 2020 Google Classroom for details.

Mr. Choo will post scholarship information on "MR. CHOO TO YOU" Google Classroom.  Check periodically.  Read the criteria and instructions carefully and observe deadlines stringently.   Information about each scholarship will be provided and the relevant application form will be attached.

SD 63 SAANICH offers CAREER PROGRAMS as follows: please contact Ms. McNAMEE- ASAP - if you are interested in these amazing educational opportunities! Grades 10 & 11 students, contact Ms. McNamee to explore adds to your schedule, and possible school credits.


WORK EXPERIENCE 12A & 12B - 100 to 120 hours of on-site job training; 4 credits each course; @  ALL locations; Semester 1 and 2.

SKILLS TRAINING APPRENTICESHIPS - STAC - immersion in level one carpentry curriculum; 16 to 20 credits; @ ILC Saanichton; Sem 2.

VANCOUVER ISLAND UNIVERSITY HAIRSTYLIST PROGRAM - 10 months professional instructional program; 40 credits; theoretical and practical training as HAIRSTYLIST; @ ILC Saanichton; February to December.

TRADE AWARENESS SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE - TASK - sample 9 trades; 7 certifications; 16 to 20 credits; @ ILC Saanichton; Semester 1.

TRADE EXPLORATION: TEX - 4 TRADES - carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding; 16 credits, @ Claremont; Semester 2.

MARINE SERVICE TECHNICIAN: repair, service, maintenance of pleasure use vessels; 4 credits; @ Quadrant Marine Institute; Semesters 1 and 2; 1 evening class per week.


also: SIP PROGRAMS / COURSES: Be a college student while still in high school! Business, Health, Human Services, Arts and Science; Technology. Programs and Courses offered at Camosun, tuition fees sponsored by SD63. 


ITA / YOUTH TRAIN IN TRADES: head start your technical trades training; attend trades training at local high school; partner with post-secondary institutions, or ITA certified training facility; earn credits toward your high school diploma.


ITA/ YOUTH WORK IN TRADES: get on the job training as an apprentice while still in high school; earn high school diploma credits, log training hours, qualify for $1,000 award on completion.
