Day 6
We left our hotel in Tours and headed into town for the morning. We parked beside the Loire river and gave the students all maps of the town. I pointed out choices for the morning including the journeyman's museum where Masterpieces by mastercrafstmen (men in those days) are on display - varying from ironwork, metal work, clogmaking, leather work, cake decorating to name but a few. I also pointed out where the beautiful old square was situated (Place Plumereau) with fantastic half-timebered houses. Also the main shopping street. After 3 hours in the town, a few of the students had unfortunately not got beyond shopping! Travelling is all about choices.
After lunch we drove down to Poitiers and had a couple of hours in the beautiful old town - it has a most spectacular romanesque cathedral and lots of beautiful pedestrian streets.
We ended up at the youth hostel for our 2 night stay here and had a great meal and time to play ping pong, relax in the garden and enjoy a leisurely evening.

Day 7
We spent the whole day at the amazing virtual reality amusement park, Futuroscope. We arrived at 10am as it opened and were there until the magnificent laser light firework show at 11pm. There were so many "rides" for us all to enjoy, some of the favourites were: Le Petit Prince, Arthur and one called La Vienne Dynamique, all about an adventure in the local area. It was really hot so the wind tunnel where you could experience wind power in the renewable energy display was a welcome break. We made sure Danielle had a wheel chair - it meant she got priority boarding on all the rides!
