Are you interested in a public speaking contest? Rotary Clubs is hosting a public speaking contest for grade 11 and 12 students. First competition is at Parkland on Wed., Feb. 12! In the final round there's a chance to win money for post-secondary education! Please see Mrs. Shook or Mrs. Stokes for speech topics and contest rules.

Green Team members, please see Ms. Dibblee to receive permission forms for the Energy Ambassador workshop at Claremont.

There is still time to join the Parkland Panthers TC 10K Island Farms School Challenge team. Registration is done online at tc10k.ca for only $30. Please see Ms. Dibblee for more information.

ALL INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: Registration packages for Spring Whistler Ski trip are available in the international office. Also registration packages for Vancouver day trip available to those who didn't go on the last trip. Space is limited, sign up today.  

GRAD WEAR SAMPLE SIZES are available to try on – TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS in Room 208, @ lunch until Thursday February 13.

BAMFIELD.  There are 3 spots available on this year's Bamfield Marine Biology trip.   Interested students should see Ms. Stinson near the end of lunch in room 102 TODAY.

FRIDAY FEBRUARY 7 will be the first in a series of Sweater Fridays with the heat lowered to help conserve energy. Help celebrate the start of the Olympics, wear your Canadian sweaters, hats & scarves to stay warm & support our team & the environment!

Reminder to students applying for the Australia exchange trip. Applications due at the office by this Friday, February 7th.  Please see Ms. Chicanot if you have any questions.

Reminder to all students that after school tutoring will be starting again next week- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, in the Learning Commons.

JUNIOR GIRLS BASKETBALL GAME FOR THURSDAY FEB 6 SCHEDULED FOR VIC HIGH HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

AND NOW FOR A REPORT ON THE SPIRIT GAMES: Huge Thanks to Mr Buckham who went above and beyond in making this an exciting and fun event! Thanks also to Mr. Andulajevic and the student council for their hard work, and to Mr. Sutton who did an amazing job drumming the entire evening. Lauren Fannelli sang the National Anthem beautifully. Our Mascots Tyrone and Joseph did a fantastic job of getting all the fans into the spirit with sportsman like cheering!
Both the Sr. Girls and the Sr. Boys played hard fought games but eventually the Girls lost to Lambrick Park 56 to 74 and the Boys a close 66-62.
For the Girls, Kristy had 24 points, while Emma Dennis sunk three 3’s. The boys top scorers were Russell 13 points, Harrison 12 points & Godwin 11 points.  Thanks to all the players who gave a tremendous effort making the Parkland students and parents very proud,;; and making PARKLAND SPIRIT DAY A GREAT SUCCESS!
