FRIDAY FEBRUARY 7 is the first Sweater Friday  Celebrate the start of the Olympics, wear Canadian sweaters, hats & scarves, & support our team & the environment!

Reminder to students applying for the Australia exchange trip. Applications due at the office by this Friday, February 7th.  Please see Ms. Chicanot if you have any questions.

REMINDER TO ALL STUDENTS: MONDAY FEBRUARY 10 IS NEW PROVINCIAL HOLIDAY – FAMILY DAY – NO SCHOOL! Looking for SNOW! See you Tuesday Feb 11.

Rotary Clubs is hosting a public speaking contest for grade 11 and 12 students. First competition is at Parkland on Wed., Feb. 12! A chance to win money for post-secondary education! Please see Mrs. Shook or Mrs. Stokes for speech topics and contest rules.

INTRAMURAL DODGEBALL SCHEDULE:

Thursday Feb 13 – Jonny Cayou's team versus Sam T's team
Friday Feb 14 – Sayril's team versus The Plugs

Mr. Pires and his Senior Boys Basketball Team are to be commended for playing the BEST GAME their fans have seen from this group. Leading right until the end of the 4th period, then down by 1 with 18 seconds left in the game, They finished to the best South Island AA team, Pacific Christian by only one point. Final score 63 PCS – 62 Parkland.GREAT GAME GENTLEMEN!

AND NOW FOR A REPORT ON THE SPIRIT GAMES: Huge Thanks to Mr Buckham who went above and beyond in making this an exciting and fun event! Thanks also to Mr. Andulajevic and the student council for their hard work, and to Mr. Sutton who did an amazing job drumming the entire evening. Lauren Fannelli sang the National Anthem beautifully. Our Mascots Tyrone and Joseph did a fantastic job of getting all the fans into the spirit with sportsman like cheering!
Both the Sr. Girls and the Sr. Boys played hard fought games but eventually the Girls lost to Lambrick Park 56 to 74 and the Boys a close 66-62.
For the Girls, Kristy had 24 points, while Emma Dennis sunk three 3’s. The boys top scorers were Russell 13 points, Harrison 12 points & Godwin 11 points.  Thanks to all the players who gave a tremendous effort making the Parkland students and parents very proud,;; and making PARKLAND SPIRIT DAY A GREAT SUCCESS!
