MEETINGS, PRACTICES, announcements, EVENTS:

There is a meeting today for after school Judo in Mr Fitz's room today at 3:30.  Anyone interested in trying out the Judo club this semester, please attend.

MUSICAL THEATRE TICKETS are going to sell out!!  Once Upon A Mattress, this week - only February 12 to 14 tickets remaining; show starts @ 7 p.m.; tickets $12 each.

TRAVELLING TOTEM POLE VISITS PARKLAND TODAY AND TOMORROW. Be sure to come to front foyer to see artist at work.

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 14 - PARKLAND JUNIOR GIRLS BASKETBALL - Car Wash Fundraiser @ SPELT'S GARAGE, Central Saanich, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m..

ALL STUDENTS: please check YEARBOOK LIST POSTED ON FRONT OFFICE WINDOW. If your name is NOT listed, you have not ordered yearbook. Please see Mrs. Wigbers, front office.

Grade 12s: list of grade 12s that need to provide missing information about their graduation requirements is attached to Grad Board. If your name is on the list, please meet with Mr. Choo ASAP to let him know your progress and grad status.

ALL GRADS must complete Grad Transition Plan by March 6th! Please see Ms. Hackman if you need assistance.

SPORTS, TEAMS, TEAM MEETINGS:

The JR GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM won their Playoff game yesterday by 42 points over Mt. Doug!  Final score 81-39.
 Coach Green stated  "Arianne, Emma and Sara led the team as top scorers. Emma earned MVP, and every player really stepped it up "!
Tomorrow, Friday February 13th @ 4:00 pm they play Oak Bay for the CITY CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE. The game is at Central Middle school, 1280 Fort Street. Please come CHEER the Team on for the last time this season & wish them all Good Luck!

JUNIOR BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM won Tuesday; beat Spectrum by 22 points. JR BOYS play tomorrow at Lambrick at 4:15. Go Parkland!Do your coaches & school proud with your best team effort each game, & have fun!

Congratulations to the Senior Boys Basketball team for winning the "AAA" league with 9 wins and 1 loss. They have earned the right to host the South Islands Playoff on Thursday, February 19th & Saturday, February 20th. They will also host the "AAA" Islands from Thursday, February 26th to Saturday, February 28th. The top three teams from the Island qualify for the Provincials. Please come out and show your school spirit and support the team!

Attention Girls Rugby Players. There will be an important practice this Friday after school at 2:00. Bring cleats, practice clothing and a mouth guard if you have one.  Please see Mr. Sutton in the gym for the forms before Friday.

Girls Soccer Try-Outs will start next Tuesday and Wednesday after school from 3:30-5. Please bring runners and cleats. Interested girls in grades 9-12 are welcome. See Ms. Dibblee if you want to play and can not make try-outs.

Congratulations to Harrison Archdekin & Bryce Isfeld for being selected to the Vancouver Island Seniors Classic All-Star Game. Harrison will represent the South Island Boys "A" Team Roster & Bryce will represent the South Island Boys "B" Team Roster on March 28th at Spectrum School.

GIANT thank you to Ms. Chicanot, the junior boys basketball team, the parents  and all the teachers that came to Claremont last week and cheered us to victory. The junior girls basketball team is very thankful for all the support we are getting from everyone.

Junior Girls Basketball Team play Mt. Doug Wednesday February 11, @ 5:45 pm at Claremont school. If successful, the girls will play for 1st or 2nd place at the City Championships on Friday February 13 at 4:00 p.m. at Central school. The Team truly appreciated all of the support from fellow Students and Parkland Teachers at their last game. What an amazing turn out of fans!  Your support has helped the Team move up the ranks, they are now 4th in the Province!

SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS & COMPETITIONS: see MR. CHOO

A UVic advisor wil be available at Parkland next Tuesday, February 17th for individual appointments from 8:30 to 11: 30 about admission, programs, scholarships, etc.  Sign up for an appointment on Mr. Choo's door.

Any students of any grade planning to major in Psychology at UVic should speak with Mr. Choo about some little known math requirements.

Any grade 12s planning to apply for the UVic Gustavson School of Business should speak with Mr. Choo immediately about the supplemental application.

Students related to BCGEU members can apply for a $3000 scholarship for post-secondary full time, & $2000 for part-time studies.  Deadline: Friday, Feb 27th.  Ask Mr. Choo for details.

Royal Bank  Aboriginal Students scholarships worth up to $4000 per academic year for students that are status, non-status, Inuit or Metis.  Deadline: February 28th. See Mr. Choo.
