MEETINGS, PRACTICES, announcements, EVENTS:
Field trip to Honduras? Parkland students have opportunity to go on Honduras marine & forest biology research trip during Spring Break 2016. Info meeting about this once-in a lifetime trip: TODAY Thursday March 5th @ lunch, room 102. See Ms. Dibblee, Mr. Hilton, or Ms. Stinson for details.

All students in Journalism, there is a mandatory meeting for journalism students today at Mr. Wong's office at lunch. This is an extremely important meeting and all journalism students from both semesters are requested to be there promptly."

ALL GRADS must complete Grad Transition Plan by FRIDAY March 6th! THE COUNTDOWN IS ON! Please see Ms. Hackman if you need assistance. DPA and 30 HOUR WORK EXPERIENCE FORMS must ALSO be turned in, before a GT interview appointment is booked.

Applications for Leadership 9-12 course offered next year available from front office. Return forms to office when complete. Please see Ms. Chicanot if you have any questions.

ALL STUDENTS PLEASE NOTE: Course selection forms should be turned in BY FRIDAY MARCH 6, but MUST BE SIGNED BY PARENT OR GUARDIAN
before they are turned in. Please see a counsellor if you need advice.

District of North Saanich celebrates its 50th anniversary in August, & is sponsoring two contests:  Time Capsule contest & Art in the Park.  If you have an item that would be good for the time capsule see Ms. Chicanot--deadline: June 15th. Art in the Park deadline: April 25th.  See Mr. Gogol for more info.

REMINDER FOR ALL USERS OF STUDENT PARKING LOT: #'s 13 to 38 are now designated for staff use only. PARKLAND PARKING DECALS are required.  Any questions, see front office.

Come out & cheer for the PARKLAND Hockey Academy students as they take on the teachers in this year's Panther Cup. The SENIORS take to the ice on Thursday March 26 @ 2 TO 3:30 P.M., ,  while the JUNIORS play the following Tuesday March 31 @ 3:30 TO 5 P.M..

LOCAL FUNDRAISER "Bowl for Kids Sake” - Register a team and help Big Brothers Big Sisters raise funds to match children in our community with mentors. April 12 at Miracle Lanes in Sidney. See front foyer announcement board for full details.

SPORTS, TEAMS, TEAM MEETINGS:

Attention all Track and Field athletes, there will be be practice on Thursday this week.  Please meet on the Track at 3:15 P.M.

There will be a practice for the senior boys volleyball team on Thursday March 5 after school.

Students interested in running the Bazan Bay 5K on March 8th in Sidney, please see Ms. Dibblee for more information. For school team of 10 student runners, your registration will be covered by the school and you can run for FREE! Deadline to register is Thursday March 3 - see Ms. Dibblee for further information.

March 31st is the deadline to register as part of the Parkland Pant'ers TC 10K or Half Marathon team. Staff and students can register online at www.tc10k.ca. Please see Ms. Dibblee for more info.

We are doing our Parkland Terry Fox Run on April 13th at 9:00 & 2:00. PE classes in A and D block and any other interested students will be able to participate.  The course will be either a 1.2K walk or 2 loop (2.4K) run around Parkland and into Blue Heron forest.The link to donate is:  http://www.terryfox.org/Donate/Donate_to_a_Participant_Team_or_Event.html then click on National School Run Day and find Parkland in the list. (The general info site is terryfox.org)

RE/MAX of Western Canada Quest for Excellence offering 16 $1000 bursaries. Due:  March 9th.

Two Dave Gifford Memorial scholarships for athletes available, $700 each. Deadline is April 24th.

Two Zone scholarships for BCSS athletes available at $500 each. Application deadline is April 24th.

Educational Facility Managers Association of B.C. offering 4 $1000 bursaries. Deadline is April 30th.

LISA (The Lower Island Soccer Association)has 4 scholarships at $1000 each. Deadline: April 30th.

Two Bert & Greta Quartermaine Badminton Scholarships available at $500. Deadline is May 1st.

The Rotary Clubs of Saskatoon and Rotaract present "Adventures in Technology”: a tour of Canada's research facilities & finest corporations for students interested in a career in science, engineering or technology. Registration fee: $350 including food and social events, plus travel expenses to and from Saskatoon. Application deadline is May 14,.

Parkland students who participated in the SKILLS CANADA EVENT last Friday DID VERY WELL! Tyler Rogers won first in Welding; Theo Duquesney second, Welding; and Tyler Strank third in Joinery. Riley Gee represented our school in the Auto competition. Tyler Rogers will go on to compete in the B.C. finals - congratulations everyone for representing our school so well!

YOUTH TEAM OPPORTUNITY: Want a job that can help your Career? Are you entering Grade 11 or 12 in September 2015? Join the Youth team at Coast Capital Savings.
