GRAD TRANSITIONS INTERVIEW DAY was a wonderful success at Parkland with community members assisting with student interviews for the first time. Thank you all staff & students & community members for your support. Special thanks to Ms. Hackman, Ms. McNamee, Mr. Buckham, Ms. Gribling, Mrs. Wong and Parkland's cafeteria for all their extraordinary contributions to making this a great day!

HELLO FELLOW STUDENTS: Please come out to our Grad Variety Show, Wednesday April 22 at 7 p.m. Tickets $10 each, sold at lunch in the front foyer and at the door the night of the show. See you there and thanks for your support Parkland!

CONGRATS TO PARENTS & STUDENTS WHO CONTRIBUTED TO ORGANIZING & THE GREAT SUCCESS OF DRY GRAD FUNDRAISER & SILENT AUCTION  - over $6000 was raised! Thanks also to the Prairie Inn & staff for all their support!

VISUAL ART STUDENTS OF PARKLAND have an art display at the Tulista Art Gallery, starting TONIGHT with opening reception, Thrusday April 16, from 6 to 7 p.m. Show continues to April 30. See you there.

VITAL YOUTH TEAM at Parkland will be collecting new or gently used socks for homeless youoth in Victoria. Foot rot is a very real problem for homeless youth and clean, dry, dark cotton socks are best. Boxes will be placed in classrooms on Monday. 

SATURDAY APRIL 25: Community Spring Clean Driver - from 12 to 3 p.m., please come by Parkland and drop off new or gently used household items to support Anney's Closet. Anney's Closet is a local charity that helps young girls who age out of foster care get set up in an apartment.

ART CONTEST FOR REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: Local Victoria Eye care & laser surgery seeking beautiful artwork, landscapes and abstract landscapes,. Three prizes: $500, and two @ $250.  Deadline May 1, 2015;  Victoria Eye 250-598-9984.

District of North Saanich 50th anniversary  TWO CONTESTS: (1) If you have an item for Time Capsule see Ms. Chicanot--deadline: June 15th. PLEASE SEE BULLETIN BOARDS FOR TIME CAPSULE SPECIFICATIONS. (2) Art in the Park IDEAS deadline: April 25th. See Mr. Gogol for more art in the park info.

SPORTS, TEAMS, TEAM MEETINGS:

Congratulations to Richard's team who won the Tier I dodgeball championships over Josh's team in the final. Congratulations to Sayril's team who won the Tier II championship over Jonny's team in the final.
The Intramural soccer schedule will be posted in the gym.

Congratulations to Ben Sammons who set a new city record in 300 metre hurdles; breaking the old record set in 2009 by .24 of a second. A major accomplishment, & great news for the future of the Parkland track team!

SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS & COMPETITIONS: please see MR. CHOO

Attention GR 12's: if you are interested in applying for Community Drug Education and Prevention Scholarship funded by Canada's Temperance Foundation please see Mr. Choo.  Deadline: May 15th.

Grade 12 students--April 15 is the deadline for completion of any online courses required for graduation.  If you have not completed your online course & plan on graduating you must email Ms. Chicanot requesting an extension.  Please provide a good rationale & the date by which you will finish your course.

Application forms for the Parkland Community scholarships now available from Mr. Choo.  These scholarships for achievement in non academic areas such as Judo, Carpentry, Musical Theatre or volunteer work have a deadline of Thursday April 30th.

The  $1500 Major Gerry Edwards Scholarship is available to a student that has demonstrated community leadership and volunteerism.  Deadline is Friday, May 1st.  See Mr. Choo for details.

Two Dave Gifford Memorial scholarships for athletes available, $700 each. Deadline is April 24th.

Two Zone scholarships for BCSS athletes available at $500 each. Application deadline is April 24th.

Educational Facility Managers Association of B.C. offering 4 $1000 bursaries. Deadline is April 30th.

LISA (The Lower Island Soccer Association)has 4 scholarships at $1000 each. Deadline: April 30th.

Two Bert & Greta Quartermaine Badminton Scholarships available at $500. Deadline is May 1st.

Rotary Clubs of Saskatoon & Rotaract present "Adventures in Technologyā€¯: a tour of Canada's research facilities & corporations for those interested in science, engineering or technology. Registration fee: $350 for food and social events, plus travel expenses to & from Saskatoon. Application deadline is May 14,.

Work Experience:
Any students with outstanding Work Experience need to see Ms. McNamee this week before Report Period 3 if you want a grade on this for this term!!

Aviation: Interested in a Career in Aviation?? What to fly for fun???  Or become a PILOT!Come to the Career Center at Lunch on Wednesday April 22nd to meet Pilots from Pacific Sky .Please see Ms. Mac if you are interested!

PACIFIC SKY FLIGHT TRAINING, Wed April 22 at lunch in the Career Centre - interested in an aviation career? Want to learn to fly for fun? Pilots from Pacific Sky are coming to talk about flying. See you there.

Food Safe / Shoal Center: Date: Friday April 24 (Pro D Day) - Cost: $50. Registration Due: April 15th. Food Safe is useful for anyone working in food service, food retail, or food processing. When looking for a summer job, this is great for your resume.
