SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS & COMPETITIONS: please see MR. CHOO

Grade 12's: April 15 was deadline for completion of online courses required for graduation.  If you have not completed your online course & plan on graduating, you must email Ms. Chicanot requesting an extension.  Please provide a good rationale & the date by which you will finish your course.

Two Dave Gifford Memorial scholarships for athletes available, $700 each. Deadline is April 24th.

Two Zone scholarships for BCSS athletes available at $500 each. Application deadline is April 24th.

Educational Facility Managers Association of B.C. offering 4 $1000 bursaries. Deadline is April 30th.

LISA (The Lower Island Soccer Association) has 4 scholarships at $1000 each. Deadline: April 30th.

Application forms for the Parkland Community scholarships now available from Mr. Choo.  These scholarships for achievement in non academic areas such as Judo, Carpentry, Musical Theatre or volunteer work . Deadline of Thursday April 30th.

$1500 Major Gerry Edwards Scholarship available to student who has demonstrated community leadership and volunteerism.  Deadline: Friday, May 1st.  See Mr. Choo for details.

Two Bert & Greta Quartermaine Badminton Scholarships available at $500. Deadline is May 1st.

Rotary Clubs of Saskatoon & Rotaract: "Adventures in Technologyā€¯: tour Canada's research facilities & corporations for those interested in science, engineering or technology. Registration fee: $350 for food & social events, plus travel expenses to & from Saskatoon. Deadline: May 14.

GR 12's: if applying for Community Drug Education & Prevention award funded by Canada's Temperance Foundation, please see Mr. Choo.  Deadline: May 15th.

Saturday May 9 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at the SHOAL Centre - Cost is $50.00 payable in cash, cheque or credit card. Looking for work in tourism, recreation or working with the public? This certificate will put your application above others.Alert Emergency First-Aid with CPR "C" + AED - This fun and interactive 8-hour course trains people how to react and improvise during time priority, life threatening emergencies. This course covers initial assessment, disease prevention, secondary survey, airway obstruction, adult/child/infant CPR, and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator. This course also includes recognition and first-aid treatment for head and spine injuries, shock, bleeds, anaphylactic shock, heart attacks and strokes. Participants spend the majority of the course doing hands on first-aid training. By practicing with scenarios students gain confidence and learn to react and improvise in emergency situations. This course meets Adult  and Child Licensing Guidelines.

Work Experience: Any students with outstanding Work Experience need to see Ms. McNamee this week before Report Period 3ends,  if you want a grade for this term!!

PACIFIC SKY FLIGHT TRAINING, TODAY Wed April 22 @ lunch in Career Centre - interested in aviation? Pilots are coming to talk about training & careers.

YEP PROGRAMS THROUGH Beacon Community Services has  job & volunteer opportunities: Yard maintenance; packing & moving; vacuuming; lawn mowing; 4 summer sounds jobs; 2 students for Sidney Seagull mascot; Painting Apprentice;  Cruise Ship greeters; Sidney Preschool fun fair. Also available: FREE RETAIL TRAINING; & ALERT FIRST AID. See Ms. McNamee for details on how to apply.

Food Safe / Shoal Center: Friday April 24 (Pro D Day) - Cost: $50. Registration Due: April 15th. Food Safe is useful for food service, food retail, or food processing jobs.
