THURSDAY OCTOBER 1 - TERRY FOX RUN in extended Block A, for whole school; TOUR DE ROCK visit in Block D.

As you are probably aware, tomorrow the WHOLE SCHOOL is going to take part in our Parkland Terry Fox Run to recognize 35 years since Terry started his fundraising run across Canada. The run will be about 2 kilometres so please dress accordingly to be outside on the field and in the forest and don't forget your twoonies for Terry! If every Parkland student and staff brings $2 tomorrow we will easily reach our fundraising goal of $1000 to donate to cancer research.

A table has been set up in memory of Elise.  It is in the front foyer and there is a very large card that we would like a lot of people to sign.  This card will be given to Elise's parents at her memorial on Saturday October 3rd.  All staff and students are encouraged to sign.  You are welcome to just sign your name on the card.

The next Cross Country Race is this Thursday, October 1st at Cedar Hill Recreation Centre. Runners please confirm with Ms. Dibblee today - WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 30 - if you are running so we can arrange transportation. The next practice is Tuesday after school with new runners always welcome.


The Sr. Girls volleyball team had an awesome tournament on the weekend at the Belmont invitational. They had wins over Spectrum, Stelly's and Reynolds. Wish them luck in their next AME versus Esquimalt!


Congratulations to the Jr. Girls volleyball team, who won all of their first Sets of the year yesterday, with wins over Vic High, Oak Bay, and Mount Doug!!! Great start girls! The Jr. Girls have a home game next Monday, come cheer them on.


Congratulations to the Sr boys soccer team as the tied their first game of the season against Esquimalt.   Great effort by the whole team.  Goals were scored  by Dylan Reid and Ben Perdiago.   Next game is tomorrow against Mt. Doug.

SENIOR BOYS SOCCER - HOME GAME  versus Mount Doug, THURSDAY OCTOBER 1 at 3:30 p.m.

 

The mezz will now be open at lunch, Monday to Thursday, for PE make-ups and for students to work out. Students must be in full PE strip and should enter through the back door of the mezz. A big thank you to Mrs. Beaucamp for making this happen!

CORN MAZE AT PENDRAY FARMS: Pendray Farms is requesting volunteers to help launch the Vancouver Island Corn Maze, located at 9537 West Saanich Road, OPEN OCTOBER 1 TO 31, 2015. For a short-term, but FUN voluntter experience, all interested students please see Ms, McNamee at lunch on Friday October 2 to sign up for various jobs, including parking, ticket sales, maze monitor, calves monitor, night maze monitoring. See fantastic posters of maze design in Career Centre, and at front office.

For those interested in a little challenge and fun, the Army Reserve is hosting a Soldier for a Day program on 31 October 2015. This program is an introduction to the role of the Canadian Armed Forces - Army Reserve both here in Canada and around the world. It’s also worth 5 hours of work experience. Students in grades 10 to 12 should see Ms McNamee for more information.




STUDIO 63 HAIR MODELS NEEDED: If you have long hair, and would like some layers put in, FREE CUT, COLOUR AND UPDO available - November 2, 8:30 to 1 p.m. Please contact Ms. McNamee to volunteer!


SIDNEY LITERARY FESTIVAL: October 2 and 3 - volunteers needed Friday Oct 2, from 6:30 to 10; Saturday Oct 3, from 9 to 1:30, and 1 to 5, or 6:30 to 10. See Ms. McNamee to volunteer and meet some Canadian authors!


Local Tutoring Job  Interested in being a teacher?? Strong English skills, reliability, solid work habits, and a desire to work with students ranging in age from 3 years and up is required.  Hours of work would be immediately after school to about 6 p.m. every Monday and Thursday. See Ms. McNamee ASAP
