Congratulations to Joseph Bond who finished 8th in the Grade 9 Boys and Tyler Peat
who finished 20th in the Grade 10-12 Boys Cross Country Races at Cedar Hill last Thursday.
The next cross country practice is tomorrow, Tuesday, after school to prepare for
Wednesday's race at Beaver Lake. New runners always welcome.
Racers please confirm your participation for Wednesday's race with Ms. Dibblee
by Tuesday after school.

mezz will now be open at lunch, Monday to Thursday, for PE make-ups and
for students to work out. Students must be in full PE strip and should

First
annual Vancouver Island College Event (VICE) will take place on TUESDAY
OCTOBER 13, 2015 AT SMU (ST. MICHAEL'S UNIVERSITY SCHOOL) senior
school campus. Institutions to be represented include: UCLA, UC DAVIS,
UC SANTA BARBARA, UC IRVINE, UC SANTA CRUZ, LOYOLA, UNIVERSITY OF
OREGON, TUFTS, MERRIMACK, SEATTLE UNIVERSITY and others.
Sign up on Mr. Choo's door if you'd like a ride to St. Michael's. Please note: you will have to provide your own transport home.
UBC advisor Shaun Cavaliere will be available at Parkland on Friday October 16
at lunchtime in the counselling area meeting room to answer any students' questions
about admission, programs, or scholarships. Everyone is welcome to drop

The Saanich Peninsula Hospital auxiliary is having a Christmas Bazaar at Mary Winspear on Sat. Nov. 14.
Need
of 5 volunteers to help load a truck with sale items; to be available
on Friday morningat 8:30 am to unload the truck at the
Mary Winspear
Centre. Then Sat. afternoon at 3:00 p.m., 5 helpers would be needed to
load the truck again and unload it at the lockers and hospital with the
unsold items. Fabulous opportunity to earn volunteer hours and help with
a very worthwhile event.
All money raised from the Bazaar goes to YOUR local Hospital.
CORN MAZE AT PENDRAY FARMS:
Pendray Farms is requesting volunteers to help launch Vancouver Island
Corn Maze, located at 9537 West Saanich Road, OPEN OCTOBER 1 TO 31,
2015. See Ms. McNamee ASAP.
For those interested in a little challenge and fun, the Army Reserve is hosting a Soldier for a Day
program on 31 October 2015. This program is an introduction to the role
of the Canadian Armed Forces - Army Reserve both here in Canada and
around the world. It’s also worth 5 hours of work experience. Students
in grades 10 to 12 should see Ms McNamee for more information.
GET
INVOLVED IN PLANNING the new YEP JOB FAIR, SPRING 2016. From October 30
to December 20, get involved in planning, research, invitations,
creating posters and promotions. See Ms. McNamee to get involved.

in being a teacher?? Strong English skills, reliability, solid work
habits, and a desire to work with students ranging in age from 3 years
