All students who are interested in being on the mock trial team for the Law Day competition please come to a short meeting in Mrs. Stelck's room 111 at the beginning of lunch on Friday January 8.


PARKLAND BAND BOTTLE DRIVE: SATURDAY JANUARY 9, from 10 to 2 p.m., student parking lot. See you there!

There will be a Vital Youth meeting on Monday January 11 at lunch in the counselling foyer.

Hi Parkland! Show off your school spirit! Parkland Spiritwear hoodies, sweatpants, and baseball tees are now available. Order Forms are at the office and are due back on MONDAY January 11th.

Get your tickets for the Musical Theatre class's presentation of Legally Blonde today!  The show runs from Feb. 3-Feb. 6 and tickets are $13.00 each.  You won't want to miss this incredible production showcasing the amazing talents of Parkland's fine ensemble and our fabulous stagecraft crew's designs.  See Mrs. Wigbers in the accounts office to get your tickets ASAP, they are selling fast!
 
Have you been thinking about trying yoga and aren't sure where to start? For the month of January, all interested students are welcome to drop in and try out the Yoga Before School class, Tuesdays and Thursday at 7 a.m. in the theatre. New students can register for second semester to earn 2 credits.


Call for nominations: COURAGE TO COME BACK AWARD - share the story of someone who has inspired you by overcoming adversity or illness, and gone on to help others. Nomination deadline: February 12, 2016 - @ couragetocomeback.ca, or email: courage@coastmentalhealth.com.

NATIONAL INDIGENOUS WRITING CONTEST: contest for Indigneous student writers to showcase their talents, and present their stories and retold legends. Rules and guidelines: see front office window, announcement boards,
and www.GoToInfo.ca/ThunderbirdStories. Prizes $2000, $1,000, and $500. Deadline: February 29, 2016.


ATTENTION ALL GRADS: your GRAD 2016 GRAD TRANSITIONS BOOKLET is now available on the Parkland website for you to view, and work on.
See: students / grad page / grad transitions. There are three buttons, or sections, to be completed.  FIRST READ INSTRUCTIONS carefully, and be sure to give full answers throughout. See Ms. McNamee if you need assistance or would like to see a sample paper copy. Each 2016 GRAD must complete this booklet and hand it in before GT interview is scheduled in April. Button 4 will be loaded later, to show sample questions for your interview preparation, and schedule.

Grad students are reminded about the opportunity to sign up to be an organ donor.  Application forms at front office.

Vancouver Island Regional Library (VIRL) is seeking a part time Library Page for the Sidney/North Saanich Library. Duties include shelving materials & routine library tasks.  Hours of work are THREE AFTERNOONS A WEEK for a total of 10 hours per week. Rate of pay is $10.45 per hour. Deadline for applications:  January 11, 2016, @ 4 p.m. Please see Ms. McNamee for application details.

CAMOSUN COLLEGE CENTE FOR SPORT & EXERCISE EDUCATION information sessions: Thursday January 21, 2016; February 18, 2016. Find out about sport management, exercise & wellness, fitness leadership programs. Third Thursdays, from 6 to 7 p.m.

Interested in being a BIG BUDDY to Elementary / Middle  School student? Help English Language Learners? One hour per week for 10 weeks,  to help others! Program  in  partnership with the Inter Cultural Center,  Sidney Elementary and North Saanich Middle school.  Opportunity to earn volunteer credits for work experience! Please see Ms. McNamee ASAP if you are interested!!

BAGEL BREAKFAST: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday mornings, before school, @ blue tables area.

MATH HELP CENTRE:  open Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays - after school until 4 p.m. for extra math help. Meet in room 105 for help with any math course you are taking this semester.

MEZZANINE IN GYM AREA: now open at lunch, Monday to Thursday, for P.E. make-ups and for students to work out. Students must be in full PE strip and should enter through the back door of the mezz. thank you to Mrs. Beaucamp for making this happen!
