WELCOME TO SEMESTER TWO!

ALL STUDENTS: please go to TAG CLASS first thing Monday morning - pick up your new timetable at TAG. If you have missed TAG this morning, see front office for copy of your new timetable.

A big Parkland welcome to the 14 new International students for this semester! We hope you enjoy your time here!

Parkland's Musical Theatre cast and crew are very excited to present the fabulous production, "Legally Blonde" with a live orchestra this week!  Opening night is Wednesday, Feb..3 and the show runs through until Saturday, Feb. 6.  Doors open at 6:40 p.m. for a 7:00 p.m. start.  The show is approximately 2 hours 30 minutes long with a 15 minute intermission, when the Parkland Band will have treats available for sale.  Ticket sales have been phenomenal with only a handful left for Wednesday and Thursday nights!  Thanks to our community for such enthusiastic support!

Any international students interested in going on the next Whistler ski and snowboarding trip in early March - deadline to register is Thursday February 4th! See Ms. Pryer ASAP.

There is a meeting for all students going on this year's Montreal trip on Friday at lunch in Ms Hassett's room. You will get a package of forms to take home.

FOUND: set of house keys on Parkland lanyard - see front office to identify and claim.

HANDBAGS FOR HOPE: please donate new and gently used HANDBAGS, JEWELLERY AND SCARVES for the Neuroblastoma Paediatric Cancer Research fundraiser to take place February 22 at the Willow Stream Spa at the Empress.


The Math Help Centre will be running this semester on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays after school until 4pm. Please come to room 105 for help with any math course that you are taking this semester.


NOTICE TO ALL GRADS; GRAD PHOTO RETAKES ARE NOW AVAILABLE FOR PICK UP AT FRONT OFFICE. Please come at break, lunch or after school for pick-up.

Call for nominations: COURAGE TO COME BACK AWARD - celebrating those who have overcome adversity or illness, and helped others. Deadline: February 12, 2016 - @ couragetocomeback.ca, or email: courage@coastmentalhealth.com.

NATIONAL INDIGENOUS WRITING CONTEST: contest for Indigneous student writers to showcase their talents, and present their stories and retold legends. Rules and guidelines: see front office window; Deadline: February 29, 2016.


ATTENTION ALL GRADS:  2016 GRAD TRANSITIONS BOOKLET is now on the Parkland website. See: students / grad page / grad transitions. There are four buttons, or sections, to be completed.  READ INSTRUCTIONS carefully, and give full answers throughout. See Ms. McNamee to see sample paper copy. Each 2016 GRAD must complete booklet and hand it in before the deadline of MARCH 11 - before GT interview will be scheduled in April. Sample questions for your interview preparation, and schedule TBA later.

Have you always wanted to work with farm animals? Curious about gentle, sweet alpaca? Bailiwick farm (across the street from the old McTavish Road School) is looking for a helper to perform ongoing general farm and pasture maintenance, routine herd health and annual shearing assistance. Job commitment would be a minimum of 2 days/week, approximately 2-3 hours per day. Shifts are flexible. Rate will be $12/hour. Ideal candidate - between the ages of 12-17, who is not afraid to work hard and independently, or worried about getting dirty. You must love animals, be willing to learn and use our methods of respectful, gentle handling. Please see Ms. McNamee about how to apply.
