VITAL YOUTH MEETING TODAY @ lunch in the counselling area.


Parkland is hosting our first ever Marine Career Fair on Thursday February 25th from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.  Check out the posters around the school.  Students from our district as well as other local districts will be visiting our school.  This is a high profile event with many businesses, employers, and training institutes in attendance.

Parkland will be having its annual Open House on Thursday February 25th from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m..  Please encourage your friends and family to attend.  We will be featuring all of Parkland's amazing programs, serving chili and fried bread, and there will be a Spirit game in the gym at 6:30 pm.  This is an evening not to be missed!

NATIONAL INDIGENOUS WRITING CONTEST: contest for Indigneous student writers to showcase their talents, and present their stories and retold legends. Rules and guidelines: see front office window; Deadline: February 29, 2016.

ATTENTION ALL GRADS:  2016 GRAD TRANSITIONS BOOKLET is on the Parkland website. See: students / grad page / grad transitions. There are four buttons, or sections, to be completed.  READ INSTRUCTIONS carefully, and give full AND TYPED answers throughout. Each 2016 GRAD must complete BOOKLET AND 30 HR WORK EXPERIENCE and hand it in by the deadline of MARCH 11 - before GT interview will be scheduled in April. Sample questions for your interview preparation, and schedule for GT interviews TBA later.

ALL GRADS: New university, college and trade school academic calendars now in the Career Centre. Come and have a look!


2016 GRADS applying for early admission, or for scholarships or bursaries, please give at least two days notice to the front office for obtaining copies of your current transcript.

COAST CAPITAL SAVINGS YOUTH TEAM: APPLICATIONS CLOSE ON MARCH 31, 2016 - work part-time in a branch as a service representative; represent Coast Capital at community events; complete volunteer hours for literacy - and perhaps find yourself in a great job while going to college or university later. See Ms. McNamee ASAP to put in a great application, polish that resume!

This program is open to Canadian Youth aged 16-17 with basic ability in either French or English as a second language.
It is a National Program offering opportunities for youth to improve your second official language while gaining important employment experiences. See Ms. McNamee for further details.

STUDY & GO ABROAD: TUESDAY FEB 23, in Victoria - presentation at Victoria
Conference Centre, from 3 to 7 p.m. STUDY, WORK, TRAVEL, VOLUNTEER - seminars and information run all day. Make plans!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: HEADWAY HEALTH FAIR, February 27 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Volunteers needed to help vendors set up, and sell their goods.Cashier experience an asset, but not necessary. See Ms. McNamee to sign up.

MATH HELP CENTREThe Math Help Centre will be running this semester on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays after school until 4 p.m. Please come to room 105 for help with any math course that you are taking this semester.

MEZZANINE IN GYM AREA: now open at lunch, Monday to Thursday, for P.E. make-ups and for students to work out. Students must be in full PE strip and should enter through the back door of the mezz. thank you to Mrs. Beaucamp for making this happen!
