THURSDAY MAY 12 - EAGLE HEIGHTS AFRICA in partnership with Parkland Secondary School presents: 2016 SPRING GALA. Proceeds from this event benefit students in Kenya. $18 admission adults, $13 students includes silent auction, marketplace, student performances, music, delicious food, and more. TRACK & FIELD: All throwers, thre will be a practise today, Monday April 25 at lunch with Eric. Javelin, Discus, Shot and Hammer! Please come to Ms. McNamee's office as soon as lunch begins!


A big congratulations to the Senior Girls Soccer team who beat St. Margaret's School on Thursday in a 7-0 victory. Sarah Gibson had a hat trick, Lexie Fleming scored 2 goals, and Michaela Pennell and Lauren Fanelli rounded out the scoring with one goal each. Goalie Jeanna Sheppard had her third shut-out in last three games due to some excellent defensive plays by her and our backline. The team is reminded that we have a practice TODAY MONDAY APRIL 25, after school and a very important game versus GNS at Blue Heron tomorrow TUESDAY APRIL 26 at 3:45.

U16 Peninsula Girls Softball Team is looking for players born 2000 to 2002 who are athletic & have an interest in playing softball. Anyone interested  contact coach, Mark Simpson, at sliderman09@gmail.com. No softball experience necessary!


SCHOLARSHIPS, AWARDS AND COMPETITIONS: see Mr. Choo for further information


Mr. Choo will be holding another scholarship meeting TODAY Monday, April 25th in room 104.  There was such a fantastic turnout at the last meeting that many students didn't get a chance to ask their questions so here's another chance to find out about some scholarships that have been provided exclusively for Parkland students.  Most of these scholarships are based on your achievements in areas like community service, international languages, trades, applied skills, and fine arts.  Come out on Monday at lunchtime in room 104 to learn about and apply for a scholarship.


Parkland Community scholarships:  These scholarships available only to Canadian Parkland grads, ON NEW UPDATED APPLICATION FORM.  Strictly enforced deadline:  2 p.m.  Friday, April 29th.  Application forms only available by emailing Mr. Choo.


UFCW & OFG JOINT DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP: Overwaitea Food Groups and UFCW Local 1518 offer ten scholarships valued at $1000 each to students who have played a significant role in diversity initiatives in their school and community. See Mr. Choo and / or bulletin board for details. DEADLINE: May 1, 2016.


BEACON COMMUNITY SERVICES SCHOLARSHIPS: Up to 4 awards of $1500 each. For graduating students who exemplify volunteerism or community service. See Mr. Choo or bulletin board for details. DEADLINE: May 1, 2016.


Important announcement to all potential UVic students.  Registration 101 is not a course & you do not have to sign up. Registration 101 is actually a presentation by UVic advisors on Tuesday, May 3rd at Parkland in room 210 (i.e., Mr. Tudelas's classroom).  The UVic advisors will talk about timetabling & show you how to register for your classes. Registration 101 will be in room 210 so that you can eat your lunch during the presentation & remain during block C to ask questions. That's Tuesday, May 3rd.

Ruby Red Farms is hiring staff for its blueberry packing line. Work includes inspection of berries, packing pints and packing of bulk berries in 5 and 10 pound boxes. This job requires a sustained effort of repetitive tasks. The environment is friendly and sociable. Both full and part time positions available, 7 days per week. Preference given to candidates looking for full time work; part-time workers commit to specific days per week starting at 8: 45 am; Deep Cove North Saanich. Starts early July and runs 7-8 weeks. Rate of pay is $11.00 per hour. Please apply only if you are able to work for the full duration of the season.

CAMOSUN COLLEGE SPORTS AND EXERCISE EDUCATION PROGRAMS - holds monthly information sessions, third Thursday of each month, from 6 to 7 p.m. Upcoming: May 19, 2016.

Gardening Basics – May 1, 8 & 15 - 3 Sundays in a row. Free - Sign up now - nearly full. Takes place @ Sluggett House Garden, 1336 Marchant Road, Brentwood Bay.  Classes build your confidence by covering topics such as: soil preparation, planting seeds and plants, plant care, weeding, pruning, and safe use and care of tools. MEZZANINE IN GYM AREA: now open at lunch, Monday to Thursday, for P.E. make-ups and for students to work out. Students must be in full PE strip and should enter through the back door of the mezz. thank you to Mrs. Beaucamp for making this happen!
