Today was a great day at the City Finals for our Track and Field Athletes! Parkland numbers are tiny compared to other schools, but we have heart, pride, speed..and strong arms.
Ben Sammons won Top Jr Male in the City for Track from the previous 6 meets. Today, he was Golden again, and broke a city record in the 300 m hurdles with a time of 41.96 (the previous record of 42.04 was set in 2009)!! He also won the Jr. Boys 400m and 100 M hurdle.
Other Highlights:
- Syril Silaya - 1st in Long Jump, 2nd in 100m, and 2nd in 200m
- Josh Carmichael - 4th in Javelin
- Cooper Langard - 6th in 400m and 800m
- Paulina Pastor - 2nd in Javelin, 3rd in Shot Put
- Sophie Weil - 3rd in Javelin, 3rd in High Jump and 5th in 200m
- Micheal Pennell - set a personal best in Javelin
- Josh Newton - also PB in Discus
Next week are the Island Finals and our relay teams will be back in action, so more good things to come!
