DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS: special meetings, sports announcements, school events, regularly scheduled openings and rehearsals:


Tennis Club starts today after school if the weather is nice. All interested students please meet in front of Ms. Anderson's office.
 

MINDFULNESS GROUP is meeting on Monday's and Friday's at lunch in the upper conference room. Come and take a break from your busy day while learning techniques to calm your mind and body. All students and staff are welcome!

STUDENTS MAY PICK UP THEIR SCHOOL PHOTOS AT LUNCH IN THE FRONT FOYER, OR AFTER SCHOOL only FROM THE FRONT OFFICE. Sample photos are available for everyone who had their photo taken - you do not need to have already ordered pictures. Your student ID card should be enclosed if you have not already picked it up. Please do not leave your class for any pick-ups from office!

HOST PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT: @ PARKLAND - Thursday October 6, 6:30 to 8 p.m. - for all SISP HOMESTAY host parents . Meet Parkland's International Student Support Team; review new info regarding student travel, medical coverage, SISP activities, homestay agreements, etc. Great opportunity for host families to ask questions and share ideas about the international program.

Hello Parkland! Student GAFE accounts have now been activated.  Everyone who signed their permission form can now sign into their account at GMAIL.COM. Your account is your student number @ STUDENTS.SD63.BC.CA. Your password is your usual password. 
See Mr Mueller in the library if you need assistance, or if you did not sign the Permission form.


In block B classes will be continuing to collect "Toonies for Terry and Tour de Rock" to help support the Terry Fox foundation as well as the Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock. Bring in your extra toonies this week so we can make our goal of $1000 by the end of Thursday!


INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: Whistler Ski Trip Applications will be available from Ms. McRae in Counselling @ BREAK, LUNCH, OR AFTER SCHOOL. Deadline for applications: Thursday, October 6. Please see Ms. McRae if you have any questions.


ALL STUDENTS: PHOTO RETAKE DAY IS OCTOBER 18. Photos are used for YEARBOOK and STUDENT records system, and to create student bus cards. Please be sure to have your photo done or redone TUESDAY Oct 18.

UNIVERSITY OF VICTORIA HOSTS Model United Nations Club Conference, from October 21 to 23, 2016. High school students follow their interests  in debate and diplomacy. This year's theme: Global Unity - Social, Political and Economic Protection of Vulnerable Peoples. Please contact your teachers for further information and to arrange permission to attend this special conference.

ATTENTION ALL 2017 GRADS:

Hello Parkland GRADS: This Friday, Oct 7th, after school, is the start of Academic Honours Seminar, an extra class for students who are looking at Post-Secondary plans for next year. Explore scholarships and early admission to universities and colleges, as well as passion projects.  If you are enrolled already, or have questions about this class, come see Mr. Mueller in the Library.

Reminder to all students applying for the $100,000 LORAN scholarship to start their online applications now.  If you would like to be considered as an applicant sponsored by Parkland, the deadline for emailing your cover and reference letters to Ms. Chicanot  and Mr. Choo is 3:00 pm on Friday, October 14th.  Good Luck.

UNIVERSITIES AND POST-SECONDARY INSTITUTIONS WILL HAVE ADVISORS @ PARKLAND - THURSDAY OCTOBER 27TH, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Information  provided about each institution, with advisors answering questions about admission, programs, scholarships, registration, etc. Up-to-date and through knowledge about each school provided. This is a golden opportunity to learn all you need to assist with your admission choices, applications, and future education decisions. Attending will be: Royal Roads, Camosun, Vancouver Island University, UVIC, Quest, Thompson Rivers University, SFU, and others. Mark your calendar now!

ALL BOYS BASKETBALL PLAYERS; JUNIOR AND SENIOR - regular Sunday night drop-in with Mr. Coughlin, runs from 7 to 9 p.m. in Parkland Gym. Please come out for a run to play some pick-up basketball to get ready for the upcoming season!

SAANICH PENINSULA U18 GIRLS BASKETBALL: Fun Night League Basketball - no experience necessary! Takes place @ Bayside Middle School, Monday evenings, from 7:30 to 9 p.m., October to March. Register through Panorama Recreation Centre, $50.

Imagining Possibilities Conference Wednesday Oct 26th - the Full Day Conference consists of: Live Your Dream Show!
Attendees can speak one-on-one with over 50 women exhibitors who have made successful careers in the arts, science, health care, technology, personal care, business, law and many other areas. Also present will be service providers such as Student Aid BC, WorkLink, and Island Sexual Health. Any young women ages 15-24 interested in this amazing FREE conference come to a meeting Thursday October 6 at lunch in the Careers Centre.
