DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS: special meetings, sports announcements, school events, regularly scheduled openings and rehearsals:


THE CAN / FOOD DRIVE HAS NOW STARTED AND RUNS to December 16 - please bring in non-perishable food items, cash or cheque to donate to the Sidney Lions Food Bank. Collection happens on Tuesday and Thursdays in Block B. Prizes will be awarded to the top class in each grade and the winning class overall.

Starting next week - on December 6 - Parkland will provide English language help for any students who would like some extra support.  The English Help Centre will run Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at lunch in the Learning Centre (room 204) and it will be staffed by a retired English teacher.  Please see Ms. Chicanot if you have any questions about this.

ATTENTION ALL INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: THERE IS A LIST POSTED AT THE FRONT OFFICE OF STUDENTS WHO NEED TO SEE Ms. McRae in Counselling today. Please check the list and see Ms. McRae as soon as possible.

UPCOMING GRAD WINTER SEMI- FORMAL December 1 - "CANDYLAND"-  from 6 to 10 p.m. 2 Capital City Yacht Club. Tickets on sale in front foyer - $40 each. If you have pre-paid for your grad winter formal, please pick up ticket at front foyer tables or front office.


WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 30: To all students in any grade thinking about attending UVic, an advisor will be hosting a meeting today at lunch time in room 404, that's the Textiles room next to the blue tables.

To any students that weren't able to make an individual appointment, the University of Toronto advisor will be available for a drop-in meeting in room 404 during morning break.

Remember also that the University of Western Ontario advisor will be here for individual appointments tomorrow afternoon.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES COMING UP:

1. DECEMBER 2 - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED for DEEP COVE SCHOOL CHRISTMAS FAIR - 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. See Ms. McNamee to sign up!

2. DECEMBER 3 - BREAKFAST WITH SANTA - MARY WINSPEAR CENTRE: 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. - share the excitement with young families by helping the Lions serve pancakes and sausage - breakfast provided to volunteers.

3. BRIDGE CHRISTMAS DINNER @ Shoal Centre: December 7 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. - Host and serve at this buffet dinner for over 100 people. This is an opportunity to spread the holiday spirit and gain experience in  hosting and serving.

4. 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS LUNCH @ SHOAL CENTRE: Decmeber 20 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. - Volunteers will gain serving experience with support staff; musicians and 12 days of Christmas surprises!

5.  B.C. AVIATION MUSEUM KIDS FEST @ Aviation Museum, December 27 and 28 from 11 to 3 p.m. Volunteers needed! Flight simulators, flyinig tables, games and crafts. Special Aviation event over the Christmas break!


SUBMIT YOUR ORIGINAL "SAFETY AT WORK" VIDEO, AND WIN A CASH PRIZE: WorkSafe B.C. is looking for creative and original video productions that explore the topic of speaking up for safety at work. Contest open to all students in B.C. enrolled in grades 8 to 12. One video will be forwarded to national competition. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: Tuesday march 28, 2017. MUSIC REHEARSALS ALL YEAR:
JAZZ BAND - Monday and Wednesday; 7 a.m.;  CONCERT BAND - Tuesday and Thursday, 7 a.m.; CHOIR - Friday, 7 a.m. ALL REHEARSALS TAKE PLACE IN THE MUSIC ROOM.

ENGLISH HELP CENTRE:
